  1. This topic has been removed. We don't build them for money, we don't allow people to solicit to have them built. Go shop at Guitar Center or pick up a soldering iron like the rest of us.
  2. Moving to IDC connectors is both cheaper and faster to build than the SIL stuff. Yes there are spare conductors, but that's trivial compared to time saved. Insane....Chipping away at a stone that varies in size. ;) Welcome to the wonderful world of line item charges and 'multiple warehouses'.....Please tell me you did not just spend $8 on shipping just to save $1.87 vs. my encoder price! Since they can't all be IDC - SmashTV's MIDIbox Site - Make crimp connectors - I'll have the right tools at a good price in the store when time permits. Also just a heads up, some of those pins and connector bodies linked in this thread are not what you want for a standard pinheader. Back to the kit mill with me.... Best Regards Smash
  3. Futurlec is not doing so good for a while now.....Many reports of credit card fraud (see http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Futurlec) and orders that simply never make it. I know with my slow shipping it's a bit like throwing stones+glass house, but I can't sit back and watch Futurlec shown as an option when I know they are ripping people off (or enabling it with bad security). 4. No.....Don't hijack this thread with "me too" or "I wish someone would do this"....Don't be such a noob that I have to put on the admin hat and clean up posts that you did not think through before you hit the post button. If you don't see the bulk order you want do it yourself....don't whine until others too. Any more unrelated questions for Jimp? Any more wanna ask where is the nnn group order (but not start one themselves)? Use the brain that got you here people! Best SmashTV
  5. Hehe thanks guys! ;D Just to be clear: My attitude on build to order kits is not about money/time etc.... but if acting like some parts nazi means every builder has the same (known good) RAM, crystal, etc. etc., that saves support effort caused by random sources. After seeing how some others pack static sensitive parts vs. my ritual, my method of packing is the only one worthy of everyone's time here giving build support. (not trying to be cocky or anything, just still amazed that even the large electronic distributors don't get it right) Best Smash
  6. Thanks for the offer! Everything has been paid for, the various parts coming in for weeks now to do these, and I plan to do enough for everyone. Back to the kit mill with me. Best SmashTV
  7. I'm thinking Seppo meant to include this link: http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/coreR3PM.pdf My R3 CORE was after the MIOS 1.7 hardware change, but before I went nuts with the double sided. :) Best Regards SmashTV
  8. A "pmmu" reset should fix this, if not it's time for a new motherboard battery. Google "cuda switch" for specific instructions, and remember -never- press the cuda switch more than once between shutdowns. ;) Whoop almost forgot there is a relatively cheap commercial extension somewhere out there to get past the 137gig limit. (same issue with one of our edit bays in Dallas) Best SmashTV
  9. Not yet, but I have a parcel of 4 fresh ones here that I have not tested yet. Best Smash
  10. Yes, but I won't even start sourcing those parts until the base kits are shipping.....That one won't take nearly as long as the base or even my current lineup did to spec and chase. ;) Best Regards Smash
  11. Hehe..... ;D I swear sometimes I see email as a river, with me standing on the bank with a small tin cup that has a hole in the bottom. :) Best Smash
  12. Mike has them stocked in his shop ready to use, and there are also guys there who will burn it for you no fee (you pay shipping though). If no one steps up let me know, it's quite cheap to ship just 4 PICs (I'll erase/burn/test no fee if you pay the approximately $3usd return shipping) Best Regards SmashTV
  13. Yes baseboard parts kits are in process, but I have to wait until I'm caught up with current orders before I can finish them......so: Kit has everything needed for the baseboard except the PCB itself, SID chips, power input jack, and the power switch. If I can find the correct switch in RoHS compliant form and for less than an insane price, they will become part of the kit (highly unlikely). I will have the on-off-on version of the switch available separately to avoid an extra mouser order for you guys if needed though. Before it's asked, yes that includes 8 512 bankstick ram chips.....Included PICs will have bootloader and MIOS, builder uploads the app via sysex. Pricing: $100 with PIC chips, $75 without. Again there is no ETA for these yet, that is a question I won't answer until my current (patiently waiting) customers are taken care of and happy. Been a crazy roller coaster ride for me lately, hundreds of miles away from home, else these would be done already. Questions, comments, and "count me in for one" are welcomed in this thread....ask in my PM inbox or email, and I probably won't even take the time to respond by pointing you back to this thread. :) Best Regards SmashTV
  14. Hi Guys! Sorry about the the unanswered mails and lack of updates on the status page, I'll get it current this weekend. Life has been quite crazy lately, still reeling from unexpected travel and being out of state for a week or so.....I'm still in catch up mode. Know that some have shipped this week, many more will get packed over the weekend (all of them if I have enough parts to make up enough CORE kits). Getting caught up is first priority, please don't think I'm getting lazy or ran away with your cash. :) Thanks for your patience! Best Regards SmashTV
  15. Keep in mind this will happen even without a PIC in the socket on most LCD modules. No....It sounds like your PICs were programmed using low voltage programming mode, when high voltage mode is required. (LVP vs. HVP) if you are reading the datasheets. Are you using a JDM? If so you need a pulldown resistor connected to RB5 to invoke HVP mode. (See http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/mbhp_jdmR2.html under "Design Modifications:") Burning the bootloader in LVP mode allocates port pins to serial ISP that MIOS needs for other things, notably LCD display pins. Hoping this is the issue, since it's an easy fix. :) Best Regards SmashTV
  16. Now you see the issue with this type of quasi-fork with relicensing release method. You handed a layout over to the profiteers (with pure intent though, not trying to be critical of that) but since your site reads more like a fork than a 'here is what I built using TKs plan', I would have to take action against you for infringement via your release of a derivative work before I have any solid legal ground for making eBay pull the auction. That said it's kinda on you now to step up if you really want something done about it. This public thread has only served to push the bid price higher. :-\ Best Smash
  17. It's important to understand this is not the first (or even second) time this guy has done this. There is no "personal use" in his intent. That's a slippery slope that ignores the spirit of this community.....What if I were to apply that logic to myself, and liquidate -my- collection of 'boxen? We are talking easily in the $100k usd range here, VS the $20k usd value of the separate parts that make up the boxes. Do I deserve $80k just for building a design TK was kind enough to share with me? No. The intent here is to make something so cool and functional that people are driven to pick up the soldering iron and learn. -Any- sale of a complete box (even for less than the price of the parts) ignores that idea. None of the usual laws or practices about first sale apply here. Ignoring TK's intent (handing out a great reason learn electronics) is purely money driven, else any talk of 'liquidation' would be about used parts not boxes. Best Regards SmashTV
  18. Nothing odd about it, and this guy has done this before. Time to file some paperwork with eBay to get the auction yanked. Matrixsynth needs to pull that post and decide whether they are yet another anklebiter adwords spacer or a blog worth reading. The sellers name and address are in your pm inbox. ;) I am curious about this too, please let me know. Take the few minutes and fill out the forms to kill the auction (eBay makes this pretty painless). If you don't do this now it will just take more effort next time he does this. When I confronted this person, he pretended to have no idea about the auctions, etc. Asking nicely at eBay matched the auction address with his though. Best regards SmashTV
  19. Yeah Denon seems to be the only one who got it anywhere near right, and those still require more maintenance than a real switch. :( That statement caused my remaining brain cells to klank together and remember a for pay design I did using 'snaptron' brand switches. http://www.snaptron.com These tape down to the PCB, and work great with just about any PCB plating besides sloppy HASL. Bonus that they outlast the average tact switch. (last I checked with the kiosk operator I did these for, they had only needed to replace two, due to vandalism after 4-5years continuous operation) The 'BL' series http://www.snaptron.com/bl_series.cfm has a hole in the center for LED lit buttons. Best Regards Smash
  20. Right....I have a tendency to ignore people seeking a soapbox for ranting vs. people just needing help. Not enough hours in the day to engage the random negativity. Personal or not, you used the issue to take a free swipe at both me and Mike. Don't pretend to comprehend what we do until you have 5 year of filling orders for little pay. Only then would you appreciate how damaging your negativity can be. So do I deserve a flogging every time you post a new message? You would not like that if I applied the same logic to you. We never treated you the way you are addressing others back when you had less than 50 posts. That's fine, but beware your work is inspiring to many, considering that you represent us all as a community. This community would rather see you act more like party host and less like captain bringdown. :) Boss is irrelevant, But I'm the guy hearing many complaints about your inability to get along with others. Now that it's landed in my lap, either just you and I need to hash this out privately (and things improve) or it's exit time for you. I simply don't have the time to read any more of your posts that the users are reporting to me. I know you don't know me well enough yet to understand that my respect for your positive posts are the only reason we are talking about this now, else the trolling would have caused me to show you the door quite a few warnings (from others) ago. Best Regards SmashTV
  21. Wow nice attitude.....If you would have turned off the whining about availability for 5 minutes a while back I would have found a cheap way to get stuff to you. Hard to want to help someone who only serves up aggression and unfounded doubt (group order). Take a step back with the mouth please, Considering your past tone I'm more in the mood to show you the door than hear any more. SmashTV
  22. I think I have all the needed pointers in place, DNS whipped, and forwarding complete (in other words those old links that recently broke should work again without needing TK or anyone else using them to edit pages). If you do happen to spot one around that does not work let me know please. :) Thank you! Your kind words are excellent motivation as I return to the kit mill. ;D Best Regards Smash
  23. Yes they do. Good enough to keep pretty hefty relay coils from glitching the rest of the system/spiking lots of inductive kickback current. Back EMF can be huge sometimes even on smaller relays, I have seen a few that would kick back 10 times the rated drive current! I know back in the day a 2.2mF 250v cap across the terminals of a flipper 'end of stroke' switch would reduce the spark across the switch contacts to almost nothing.....considering the 50v coils, the kickback was mean enough without the cap that the switches would burn and pit after only a few cycles. Sounds like you guys need a better coil design! Anyone done a dual-winding coil for this use yet? Something with a mean winding (short duty cycle-for moving from rest quickly) and wimpy winding (continuous duty-for holding the mech engaged) wound together on the same coil former perhaps? -really- simple to control if an 'end of stroke' switch is possible.... ;) Not much, But with a little more info on the coils (#turns, gauge, bar core or moving plunger down the center, impedance, drive voltage, etc.) I can help you pick some complementary cap values to clean up most of the noise. Nice to find my wasted years in the vending biz paying off a bit. ;D Best Smash
  24. Sorry about that guys! I recently had to wrestle control of my coinoptech.com domain away from a host gone bad, I'll have it pointed correctly at the site asap. I'm still here, but barely this last week due to some schedule killing events. ;) Hoping to be back to normal and caught up again by Friday. Best Regards SmashTV
  25. Reminds me of some issues seen last year related to metal power inlet.... http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=6016.msg37048#msg37048 Best Smash
