  1. I'll fix that right now. Yes it looks like 'philippe nocq' had a problem reading the directions and wiped out your entry/failed to properly format his entry. I repaired his format error on his entry that day but did not notice he had wiped out yours. Best regards Tim
  2. Looks like gabe has been a busy little poster. Best regards Tim
  3. LPC17 boards and MagJacks are shipping now: AVI Showtech board shop - Low Value Orders A full kit for LPC17 will be available from the main shop page very soon. Best regards Tim
  4. AVI Showtech board shop - Low Value Orders Best regards Tim
  5. Boards/kits for this are available in my shop, and I ship to Cyprus. Best regards Tim
  6. Hi Jay, Only you can answer this question. Are the features in the new version a must-have? Is cost a consideration? Time frame an issue? After looking over the documentation for both versions and the build page for the LPC based Core can you make it to goal with only basic help? I can't say it any better than Jim has: In DIY help is voluntary, nobody is paid to provide support etc., so it's up to you to decide your comfort level with learning/reading the documentation and working with this stuff. From my inbox: In the future keep in mind I am watching this thread, no reason to ask similar questions both here and in my email. The Core8 board is PIC based and runs MIDIO128 V2 MIDIO128 V3 requires the LPC17 based Core. Don't be afraid to click around and read http://www.ucapps.de/. Every build question you have asked so far is answered within one click from that page. :) Best regards Tim
  7. Hi guys I will have them in stock soon, just waiting on the fabrication run to be finished. Best regards Tim
  8. Time to make use of the "Watch Topic" feature. Intentional or not I can't afford to be associated via name drop with the MB808 and the fear/uncertainty/doubt surrounding it, So I need to clearly state that I have nothing to do with this project aside from selling Doug the PIC chips needed to build it. Short answer: yes Doug is a friend, no I don't have any info. He is the only guy with any answers, so sending private messages via forum/IRC/chat to other people will only serve to annoy those people. Best regards Tim
  9. I got sidetracked on this. Do not forget to run the ratsnest command or you will be missing some crucial ground paths. Best regards! Tim v1.brd.zip
  10. Hi guys, It is definitely active, just quiet. Long answer: I have been working my way through the list for a couple of months now, privately letting people know when I have a kit/PCB ready for them. The kits are very labor intensive to produce and some of the parts have lead times measured in months, so I thought it best to avoid further wait time by simply having it ready to ship when I email you. Short answer: If your name is on the list, you will eventually get an email and forum PM from me, and I will have it ready to box up into a postal projectile to fire in your direction. :) Best regards Tim
  11. Hi Emre! No worries I did not perceive this as urging from you, I just gave a quick progress report on the layout here in the thread so I would not have so many emails to write (a few other people also requested the files via my inbox). :) Will do.... are you etching in house or planning to use a proto service? Best regards Tim
  12. Hi *! The layout is almost there but needs a bit of cleanup work. I will post the layout here in this thread when it's ready for testing/feedback. (translation: no need to ask me privately for the files) Time frame: days not weeks, I guesstimate a couple more hours of cleanup will get it there - the trace tetris time sink is already done. I have attached an in process image, not to tease but to show it's moving. :) Best regards Tim
  13. Hi guys... I'm not happy about this or the lost sleep over it. I am sure everyone here who is paying attention feels the same to some degree. To put to rest any speculation I sold him one set under my typical terms that prohibit commercial resale. Best regards Tim
  14. I should have everything in hand to do this right within the next few weeks, then I will begin working my way through the list. I'll do my best to answer all the questions about specifics with the "it's ready" messages I send out at that time. Best regards Tim
  15. Sorry to jump in I just saw this thread.... You really want the SID on the same 5v rail as the rest of the logic. Anytime you have a logic HI on the data lines driving the SID, you are tying the two different +5 power rails together. This can end badly for the weakest part involved. I'll greatly over simplify here and say you never want more than one source on a DC voltage rail, otherwise they get all competitive and fight each other. :) The long answer: any differential between the two regulator outputs (different trace lengths/wiring or even a few mV variation between two from the same batch) will have the higher source of the two doing all it can to bring the output voltage up to spec, while the other sees the higher voltage at the output and gets bitey. Depending on the regulator and circuit bitey might mean shutdown, oscillation, shutdown + draw like a big load, etc. There are ways to design around the issue - but not without losing some regulation. I agree with the boys.... good work! Best regards Tim
  16. Sorry for the confusion! I thought that change was also in the V2x files TK and I were trading at the time, but once again I have proven how badly things can go wrong when I put some thought into it. :) As always there is some documentation directly derived from the production board files on my info pages, and this one also has a red-eyes-after-rosin-flux-exposure-readable resistor map: Best regards Tim
  17. Slight correction - these specific boards and the PIC chip w/blue label in the photos came from my shop. No worries though, it's become a running joke since almost as many people call me Mike as they do Tim or Smash. Best regards! Tim aka SmashTV
  18. 74HC165 or 74HC595? The cool thing is I have plenty of spares and a postal projectile soon to fire in your direction. :) Best regards Tim
  19. Yes it at least needs terminated even without slave modules. More info on the v1->v2 upgrade page: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_up.html Best regards Tim
  20. Missing CAN bus diode and resistor can cause this (not sure if you are building a modular or 6582....it's on the 6582 base board but has to be added for a modular SID) http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_v2_communication.pdf has more info. Best regards Tim
  21. Hi guys, While I wait for some suppliers to ramp up (bourns) and others to answer email (albs) for the seq kits I have spent some of the 'hurry and wait' time on a board layout with four IIc MIDI outputs, Ethernet, and SD. Currently if built with off the shelf boards it takes 6(!) modules for these three things, so given the SEQ use case it makes sense (and saves a lot of complexity) to put them on one board. I still need to build/test the layout, but I will probably be done with that before I am done collecting all of the parts to make up the kits. Availability and turnaround times from some of the parts manufacturers is still poor, so I would rather not comment on things until I have -everything- in hand. I simply will not GUESS on things like will Bourns make enough encoders by the end of January or will Balthazar ever return any email, so please don't ask me to. I will say I have thousands invested in parts to make the SEQ kits already and it is consuming more by the day, so I have a strong motivation to do this as soon as possible while taking the steps to do it right. I realize the SEQ kit is news to most of you, and if you will hold tight I will post more info here on the forum when its time. This means I will not respond to any emails or private messages or forum posts asking when/what/price etc. Sorry I don't mean to sound hostile about this, it's just that I either have time to answer a lot of questions about things that are not etched in stone yet, or time to work the chisel and hammer, not both if you want it anytime soon. :) Seppo thanks for the nudge, but I would really rather do this without the attention (did you forget our conversation about the SEQ kits?) Best regards Tim
  22. Just to be clear did you mean to say R30? If not troubleshooting will need to take a different path.... The test app is meant to run on a bare board, so even with -only- the STM chip and R30 on the board the test will fail. I'm a bit distracted today with other stuff so instead of a support drive-by spouting theory I tossed a fresh Core32 on the pinbed and loaded the test app, got a pass, dropped in a 1kΩ array @ R30, and got a fail. Always fun when practice takes less time than theory. :) Completely normal. Your meter is seeing two of the 1kΩ resistors in the array. Is the DIN board from me? Is it wired via SIL/single row connector by chance? Best regards Tim
  23. Hi guys, LyleHaze has it right, you will have to add wires/jumpers to pin 9 and 10 yourself. My reasoning for what looks like some incomplete trace tetris: My DOUT R3 layout was set up for ULN2803 driver chips only, with the ground plane connected to the ULN chip etc. It works/worked great, but required a lot of effort with a knife to disconnect the plane from the pin when using a UDN or other alternate driver IC. With some feedback from the pipe organ guys I left those pins open from R4 on, to support other driver chips and to allow for isolation between control and drive power rails if needed. R4 and R5 can be built for source or sink drivers without major surgery on the copper layer. :) Have fun and let me know if I caused more questions! Best regards Tim
  24. If MIOS is corrupted but the bootloader is intact, the chip will revert to the same behavior as bootloader only (it will fire an upload request every 2 seconds). Best regards Tim
