  1. I think having a metronome on the DAC of the STM32F4 is a great idea. We've got a DAC on this board and it should be used. This would be an excellent first step for someone to implement.
  2. Thanks for the explanation, that makes sense. I'm going for PSU option B with a C64 PSU, If I understand this correctly I should close jumper J73 as the C64 PSU provides has a regulated 5V supply? Regards, Rowan
  3. Hi All, I'm getting prepared to build a MB-6582, studying all the documentation. I have found something that is a bit confusing and wanted to check for the answer long before I come to the problem....... The MB-6582 Base PCB Construction Guide Sates in the PSB B option section jumper J73 should be bridged for PSU B http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=wilba_mb_6582_base_pcb_construction_guide But in the MB-6582 Base PSB Parts Guide this is contradicted. http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=wilba_mb_6582_parts_list Note 3 at the bottom states that J73 should only be used for PSU C. Which is correct? Thanks, Rowan
  4. Im interested in one, I've recently orders MB-6582 PCBs. The spec says that it's HD44780 compatible so I don't understand why it would need a custom driver.
  5. I've updated MIOS to V1.9h, Intalled the sammichSID app and loaded all the patches. I'll send it back without the optocoupler as I had to "borrow" one from my MB SEQ to check it was the problem. You'll still need to source and install an 6N138 optocoupler. The backlight circuit isn't working properly either but I haven't/won't look into why it's not working as I don't have the time right now. Enjoy!
  6. Problem Soleved! I have replaced the 6N138 and it's working. Happy Days!
  7. Unless you will be spending £50 with mouser you will have to pay £12 shipping! This might be a better/cheaper option. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400687652123
  8. I've replaced R5 with a 5.6k resistor but still no luck. When I query the Core with MIOS studio I am getting the following response f0 00 00 7e 40 00 0e 0c 00 f7 What does this sysex string indicate?
  9. I don't know if the price will change in North America, but it will definitely in the EU. I'm kind of in the know due to my job.
  10. Just a heads up here that will make the Launchpad option a bit more popular..... expect a retail price drop of about 20% in the EU on the 22nd of January
  11. I've offered my services to help Rave fix this issue. I received the sammichSID today and have experienced the exact same issue as Rave with two different MIDI interfaces that I know work. I went through the trouble shooting guide which made me think is was a problem with the soldering/components rather than the interface. I opened the unit up and check all the components in the MIDI I/O and found that R5 was 82k rather than 5.6k as per the MBHP Core 8 schematic. R5 connects pin 7 of the 6N138 to ground. I guess this would effect the MIDI in working correctly, thereby causing the upload problem. Could this be the cause of the problem?
  12. Sound like a very interesting extension! I tried to get the BLM app to run on a Raspberry Pi over the weekend without any luck. I'll give this a try when I get a chance in the coming days. If I can get this working reliably I think I'll add a Raspberry Pi into the Launchpad Mini frame I've made. It would be great to have an embedded solution. An OS image for the Raspberry Pi pre configured would be a great idea once all the kinks are ironed out. Which Raspberry Pi are you using?
  13. Hi Kai, I can flash it for you, I've go a MIDI interface that I know works. I'm in Glasgow, PM me and I'll give you my address. Rowan
  14. I'll try the new firmware in the morning. I've made a basic frame today to hold the 4 x launchpads in with a USB hub screwed on to the bottom.
  15. I've tried out the new V4.088 pre3 firmware are BLM V1.4 app and everything seems to be working as expected. Great idea to keep the play and stop buttons when a 16x16+X configuration is used. One thing I've noticed that now strikes me as a little odd is that the SEQ hardware panel shows muted tracks with the LED below the corresponding encoder lit green while the LED on the BLM is off. Would it not make more sense for the LEDs on the SEQ hardware panel and the BLM to behave the same way as to avoid confusion? Thanks again...... Great work!
  16. Excellent! I'll try this out tonight. Thanks TK!
  17. Hi All, I've got 3 virgin 18F4685 PIC's in the post that I need to burn the MISO bootloader on to. Before I go and buy a PIC programmer for a one-off job is there anyone here that is willing to burn the bootloader on to 3 PIC's for me? I've got 1 x PIC with the bootloader on it already and I'm going to use these in a MB-6285 SID so each PIC will need a unique device ID. I'm located in the UK and am happy to pay for return postage anywhere in the EU/US. Please PM me if you can help. Thanks, Rowan
  18. I came across this today https://github.com/MrBlueXav/Dekrispator I've loaded it on to a STM32F4 and it actually sounds rather good. Has anyone else tried this out? I can imagine a very cool cheap synth based on this code.
  19. From the album: Rowan - MBSEQ V4

I mounted the STM32F4 core and 2 x MIDI I/O on a sheet of vero board today. Luckily there is still plenty of space left free for other modules and internal PSU in the future.
  20. Let's just keep this simple, TK only has so many hours in the day....
