  1. Don't do it. Read the sticky posts. edit: You build the box for him and sell it to him == he buys the parts and you assemble them for money == commercial == big no-no.
  2. I'd change the footprints of some of the caps: C6 (330n), C3, C7, C8 (100n) have a tendency to come in 5.08mm (200mil) spacing. Sidenote: If you move the parts around R11 a bit you can lay that one flat as well.
  3. If you got help in the chat and have opened a thread prior to that, please write down the solution in the thread so others can profit from it as well ;) The problem was that the pic was programmed to id 6. So all that was needed was to open MIOS Studio, set "device id" to 6, load the change_id_00.hex, upload. Now the core was correctly set to ID 0. Next, we changed the "device id" in MIOS Studio back to 0, loaded the sid software - DONE ;D
  4. MIOS Studio doesn't wok under Vista? Crap. Bugfight, get cracking on the MSfW :-)
  5. Pretty! Really pretty. I definitely needs different knobs though :-) Fooooona, come back here!
  6. The change_id_v_d.zip already comes with precompiled .hex files. Since you only have one core you want to upload "device_id_.hex". Then upload the SID software again. edit: Please stop triple-posting. If you wanna chat rather than wait for an answer, come to the chat ;)
  7. Nice work! "Tripling the cost". 3x $30 is still nothing for a case including a cut panel ;-) [me=nILS Podewski]sings: "It's a looong way from the render, if you wanna rock and roooooooll...." ;D[/me]
  8. My information was based on hearsay :-) [me=nILS Podewski]looks at bugfight[/me]
  9. Some posts got lost (the ones posted right before the outtage). I've opened a new "we're back thread". I'd be interested to hear what people did, while they couldn't feed their addiction :-) http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11864.0.html
  10. Let's check b) first, as that seems to be a critical problem. How hot is "hot as fuck"? "it burns my fingers"-hot or just "you can still touch it but it's really really warm"-hot? Remove the SIDs and the Core and re-check the voltages. Make sure your wiring is correct (see ucapps.de for details). Do both these things at least twice. ;)
  11. This was a weird time. I was shaking from withdrawal. Funny thing happened in the time of the transition: For quite some time the new and the old IP could be used to get to the chat. To two different chats though. At some point they got merged and people would show up in the list of the one where they weren't logged in and vice versa. Messages got sent to random instances of the chat as well. Strangely funny :-) Good work Twin-X! ;D
  12. http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11828.0.html ;-)
  13. If you want a zipped version of it, let me know. edit: Ahhh wtf. Zip is attached. midispec.zip

    If you count the pins the right way, you'll notice that it's actually 31-32 as described in the schem and board. Counting pins: 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 .. 21 20 _:__:__:__:__:__:__:__ __:__:_ | | ) | | | '-:--:--:--:--:--:--:-- --:--:-' 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 .. 18 19 [/code]
  15. As soon as you know it - how about sending it to me via eMail? I could host a redirection script that forwards the user to the new IP ;-) -> http://www.schickt.de/temp/goto_midibox.php
  16. AFAIK physically connecting two MIDI inputs is not a good thing - just think about what would happen if both controllers sent data at the same time. That's the reason why there is the MIDI merger ;-) The MIDI merger (http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11115.0.html) is a pretty small and simple board that gives you two physical inputs and merges them into one output, that you can connect to your core.

    1) It's most likely not the board file that isn't working, but your version of eagle. I just tried it with 4.13, 4.16 and 5.0 - worked fine. 2) ucapps says (on the page you linked): "Add also the four additional Bypass Caps between Vdd and ground (Vss) of each chip on the bottom side of the PCB as close to the +5V power input of the 74HC595 as possible. Add an additional cap (100 uF) at the power input of the DOUT module." That means: one of the four 100nF caps per IC, between ground (for instance Pin 13) and +5V/Vdd (Pin 16). Exactly as described and shown on the pdf (also on the page you linked): http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_doutx4.pdf
  18. You need to log in (using the button on the bottom right of the page) and then edit the page. Make sure to update the totals as well ;)
  19. Yeah, post the new IP here RIGHT THE SECOND before it gets shut down! ;D
  20. My new beer coaster arrived today! Whee!
  21. It's not like it's rocket science :-) Cut 4 leads - done. Yes, 4bit mode is preferred.
  22. A quick'n'dirty download/mass-find/replace lead to this: http://schickt.de/_midispec/ Hope that helps until bill's got the new version online. There's some missing files though (the ones that were missing in the wayback snapshot I downloaded).
  23. OMG. Multiple days?! Wuaaaah! Well, um, my suggestion (just for the time the forum may be down) would be gamesurge, #midibox (irc.gamesurge.net:6667).
  24. Yeah, the 3d stuff is really... cute, but can you post a classic top-down view as well, pleaaaaase? ;)
