It does not. It shows ONE row of black squares. The other row is just visible because the contrast is cranked way up. This is what you see if the display has power but has not been initialized. Possible reasons: * Wiring * Wrong/No software on the PIC * Wiring * for more see stryd's GROT

Also ich bin für "Mir reichts - ich kauf mir ne 3d Fräse" :-) So, mal ernsthaft - ist alles halb so wild. 1. Ja, Suchen hilft, ist aber tatsächlich nicht einfach. Würde aber bestimmt helfen wenn Du uns verrätst, wie groß das ganze so in etwa ist. Vielleicht hat der eine oder andere ja noch ein paar gute Quellen. Alternativ ist selberbauen bspw aus MDF oder HDF eine einfach und günstige Alternative an Gehäuse in jeder belibiegen Form zu kommen. 2. Platine für's CS. Hmm, wie wär's denn mit Lochraster? Mach ich auch so, geht gut und ist darüberhinaus flexibler als eine geätzte. Ich sag nur "oh, hmm, vielleicht wär der Knopf do ch da drüben besser". 3. Schaff Dir klare Rahmenbedingungen. Zeichne ein paar Layouts mit genau den Tastern, Pots, LCDs, ... die Du in Deiner Kiste haben willst. Zeig das her, dann kriteln wir ein bisschen rum und haben vielleicht noch die eine oder andere gute Idee. Und dann such eine Kiste die passt. Ohne fixe Vorstellung was rauskommen soll wird das hier echt schwierig.

Klingt ein wenig verwirrend, was Du da vorhast. Wenn Du das ganze tatsächlich ausschließlich IN einem Gameboy bauen willst, wirst Du Dich vermutlich etwas schwer tun. Immerhin müsstest Du irgendwie ein Core-Modul auf die Größe schrumpfen. MIDI-Buchsen helfen dem Platzmangel auch nicht unbedingt. Das Steuerkreuz ist digital, das müsstest Du folglich durch was anderes ersetzen (Potis). Kann mir kaum vorstellen, dass der nötige Aufwand (neues Core-Modul Layout, Modifikation des GB-Gehäuses, ...) irgendwie gerechtfertigt ist. Nimm lieber ein kleines Handgehäuse (pactec hat sehr nützliche, zum Beispiel über Conrad zu beziehen) und fang bei Null an. Im Prinzip brauchst Du für das von Dir beschriebene Verhalten nur einen Core, 4 Taster und einen Joystick (bspw. Analogstick aus PS2 Controller). Das ganze könnte dann mittels eines 9V Blocks gespeist werden.

9V -> 4V need to be turned into heat -> lots of heat. I'm using 7V and never had any problems. 7.5V 8.6V seems to be the magic number for most people though. edit: Altered the magic number.

I don't know if this is the cause of your problems but for audio applications not a good design practice. Each VR that you add in series adds noise. You might want to get a second transformer for the 5V.

Whee! I just boxed it up and fiddled a bit more with the code (basically I just added some checks to keep the LCD update frequency down a bit to avoid flickering). I'll try to borrow a camera and take some pics as soon as possible ;D edit: Crappy web-cam picture can be found here
