Put me down for 1 too please, if and when....

I got my panels and the extra knobs (which arrived just a few days before the panel)... Thanks very much alt! I agree with B.jamin it's 100% not alt's fault, and I really hope he's not feeling any pressure from us, because that would really suck after he's put himself out to do all of us a favour. My take on the panels - I'm not 100% happy with the result, but I'm not going to cry or worry about it if we can't get a do-over. Worst case senario I have a slightly unperfect front panel, but underneath is a rare-as-rocking-horse-shit uber synth that sounds like nothing else on the planet. If the panel ppl don't wanna play ball we just gotta chalk it up to experience and not use them again...

JB-Kiwk is from the same company as JB Weld, it's not a cheap imitation. I've used both before and they are both amazing products. Specs in PSI for both: Jb Weld: Tensile Strength: 3960 Adhesion: 1800 Flex Strength: 7320 Tensile Lap Shear: 1040 Shrinkage: 0.0% Resistant to: 500° F JB KwiK: Tensile Strength: 2100 Adhesion: 1800 Flex Strength: 7320 Tensile Lap Shear: 1040 Shrinkage: 0.0% Resistant to: 300° F I pretty sure the only difference in the products is the tube of hardener. I can see your point about the count down to 4 mins, but that's not a problem if you mix a little at a time. When I wrote the post I was in the middle of doing some tests with JB Weld and JB Quick, I have lots of smaller module PCBs in my box so the JB Kwik is a god send, with the MB6882 monster PCBs I will follow your advice and go with the JB weld as there a lot more points to do all at once. -

hey prof, man it sucks getting dicked around like that, I love the service we get to endure in the UK. I've found the best place to get JB Weld is in smaller independent hardware stores. You want to go for the Kwik stuff, it stays pliable for about 2 minutes after mixing, sets in just 4 minutes, and cures fully in 4 hours as opposed to the WB Weld which stays pliable for about 30 minutes after mixing, sets in 4-6 hours, and cures fully in 15-24 hours. http://adfarm.mediaplex.com/ad/ck/710-29256-8196-0?loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D290173808990 £4.85 on ebay, maybe this guy would do an even better deal for multiple packs.... Can I please take advantage of your most kind offer on the crystal mounting pads. -
the customs charge should be 17.5%, but the sneaky bastards are now charging a handling fee on top of that. there is no way around this that doesn't involve a shot gun and balaclava....

Hi ya Goblinz, I dunno about you but I am having a mare with the post at the moment! Any chance you could send mine registered please? I'll sort you out any difference in cost via paypal... You're not London based are you? -
I wouldn't bother re-using the faders, they are cheap enough to buy new ones for the project. But if you really wanna recycle make sure they are 10K Linear. there is no way you are gonna take the "fader board" from your KK-449 and plug straight into the core, if the faders are the correct spec and PCB is wired right you MIGHT be able to solder up a cable to run to the core and job done. If the PCB isn't right you might be able to mod the board to make it work. You need to put in the work and do your homework on here and you'll be able to make that call yourself.. What kind of IC is that soldered to the bottom of the board?

I use rapid all the time - they are great!!!
-
all the parts for a AINx4 ;) smashTV also sells kits with the PCBs and all the components....
-
This topic has been discussed quite a bit in the forums, but I can’t remember anyone starting a thread to discuss all the various methods in one place. If the components are PCB mount then it means doing a PCB for them or using perf board. So then comes to the decision on how to mount to the panel. You can drill holes in the panel and have bolts running from the top of the panel through the holes in the PCB with nuts on the bottom of the PCB to hold it tight. Or You could JB weld the head of the nut to the underside of the panel to avoid having holes in the panel - check Wilba's posts on this subject for photos which will make it much clearer than words can.

No I am not shocked, I have a fair amount of electronic components in my little stock pile and lots more stuffed into boards. You are also talking to someone who has had custom pot runs done by Alps - that is expensive! You didn't pay for the knowledge, just the components. And for the record I said value, it's interesting you took that to mean money... you have no idea what I have or have not contributed to this community. given the amount of effort, time and money some people (i.e. not me) have put in here I doubt you really wanna go there, I sure don't....
-
Really? Is this a statement of intent? "capital investment" - are you joking? We are hardly talking about setting up a factory with plant and equipment. It would seem from your sentiment that you put no value on the knowledge you have gained from this midibox project...

the whole point of the bulk order is that they don't do business with people who want small orders.... -

you need to investigate the remote scripts - the Mackie Protocol does pretty much everything you'd ever need, and if you wanna get real hardcore you can write custom Python scripts to controll everything....
