Still need some ALBS knobs for the MB-6582? 2nd European order.
Goblinz replied to Goblinz's topic in Bulk Orders
I'm wanting to order a few different knobs to see what they have and what we can use. Mainly to see if there's anything suitable for the x0x, I'm wanting to check out their illuminated switches too and maybe get some replacement faders for my Korg. Basically I don't want to just send an order in for small quantities so will combine it with a knob order. I'm puitting up a WIKI page but it's going to take a while as this is my first proper attempt at wiki. G -
Not seen the video as I'm at work, but these drums are amazing. I've seen a few people with them over the years at various festivals. I play the djembe and they make a great melodic accompliment over the top. They're quite expensive though. They also look like flying saucers. G

x0xb0x Bulk parts order Reloaded. (to Digikey, Mouser, etc).

I wouldn't mind a pack of resistors/common bits. Componants seem to be very expensive in the UK so it would save a bit; I'm not sure if it would save people in other countries much though. Although it would be nice (and lazy!) to have a kit containing all(/most) of the componants arrive at my door, it would be a lot of work to make the kits up. Basically I'd be in for a couple of resistor sets, but please don't commit too much time for it if you're busy. G -
Is this because the SIDs have a high mercury content? ;D

Thanks for your efforts Ganchan, have sorted to get bits through Prof now. I may still be interested in some 2SC945P if you're still ordering some in the future. Have we found a possible source for the BA662A? Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier, I'm at work and don't have time to check back through the threads. Prof, just noticed on your list, you have listed... 2SC2291 - 3 off 2SC1583 - 1 off Should these quantities be the other way round? G

Hi, do you have any of the red ones that are in the linked pictures? G

LOL, think that one needs adding to Wikipedia!

I'm glad we've got people like you on board prof (and the others). My electronics experience doesn't go much beyond GCSE and tinkering around when I was a kid. Even all these different parts times are getting a little confusing. I think I need to sit down at some point with the BOM and work things out. I think I'll be building two x0xb0xen eventually, one using the laydyada parts, one using the alternatives so will be easier to get 2 of everything now. G -
You copied one of Wilba's designs, is that allowed? ;D

Clever stuff, I wondered where you got that number from, seemed very precise! G

I have a friend who works in a small Tshirt printing company. Could maybe ask for a price on getting a few of these made up... not sure what the minimum order is though. G

Looking up at the other posts I feel a little under-qualified! Time for a bit of an essay on me. Personally my official job titles is Statistical programmer/Applications Administrator. Although I was just given this job title as I needed to have a department to work under.. The stats dept. I spent a little while learning SAS (stats anaysis language/package) before taking on lots more work on the AA side of things, so I am now stats free. I work with clinical data and do a veriety of stuff under the AA badge : Fixing computers, User admin, validation, database admin, data amendments, writing operating procedure guides... all to government standdards/regulations which can be difficult at time. I do pretty much anything that gets thrown at me which gives a veriety and if there's something new that I want to try then that's not a problem. There's also the satisfaction of de-activating users at the end of the day... I don't know why it amuses me so much :) I feel quite lucky to have this job. I haven't got any qualifications beyond GCSE. I did a 2 year GNVQ advanced engineering course, but that got canned after about 18months so all I ended up with after that was a low level city in guilds in autocad. I spent a long time at the company where I work doing menial lab work and then got a real break when they took me on doing IT stuff... It was good to find somewhere that would take me on without experience,, and now it looks like they'll fund me for university too :D. Personally I feel old now, been with the same company for 9 years and i'm only 25!. I live on my parents farm in a very green part of the UK. I've been intersted in electronics from a young age, starting off with those 50in1 electronic kits. When I was young my dad used to bring home electronics stuff that had been chucked out.. Photocopiers, phone exchanges for me and my brother to take to pieces (wich i'd kept hold of some of the bits!). I'm quite unusual in that I work full time and also party alot. I go to anywhere between 5-7 festivals a year, which is my real true love and have clocked up 38 in total since I was 18. I'm a very active member on the efestivals forum. The rest of my spare time I spend mainly at raves of the psy-trance veriety or at goth/EBM clubs. I got in to Midibox last year when I saw the Wilba-beast on Hackaday and even though i' only messed about with making music on my pc decided that I wanted to build one. This has kind of taken hold a bit now. I've got the MB6582 on the way, getting parts for 2 x0xb0xs to build, thinking of a MBFM and MBSEQ aswell as wanting to build a vocoder at some point.... I've come to the realisation that I'm going to end up with a full studio at the end of this. G

Same situatuin here. I had a quick look a while back and didn't find anything useful. One option that I may investugate is borrowing an inverter from something else... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/El-Wire-neon-lights-multipack-5-colours-INC-PINK-NEW_W0QQitemZ120232129289QQihZ002QQcategoryZ109067QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem These boxes run off 2xAA batteries. I probably have one at home somewhere. I'll try and hook it up when I find it and if it works I'll draw up the schemes. G

Has anybody tried asking about the roatry switch on the x0x forum. I'm guessing that they wouldn't have chosen a very hard to get part for the switch???? G -
I have a broken white one somewhere. May take a while to dig it out though. When I find it you can have it if you want, could even drop it off down in Sheffield when I'm next down there. G

When are you taking payment for these? If it's after 25th then I'll take two. If your doing things sooner then I'll wait to the next sale, if there is one. G

Got my displays yesterday. Are these LED backlit or EL? G

Still need some ALBS knobs for the MB-6582? 2nd European order.
Goblinz replied to Goblinz's topic in Bulk Orders
Once the new lot of MB-6582 PCBs have gone into production then I may organise another bulk order as I will be ordering some stuff from ALBS anyway. As it stands there hasn't been too many people requesting full sets on here or by PM so i don't see much call for a large order. G -
What's the World Wrestling Federation going to do about it? :P

The metal one does look very nice. I do like the black one though, i think it would go well with most colours. The screw could look a bit out of place, but maybe a black grub screw could be used (available from most meccano sets :D) If not then maybe the hole could be filled with something that could easily be removed. These knobs are quite expensive, I'm not sure what the saving is on a bulk order. I will do some digging and see what else I can find. I'm starting to get a knob fixation, everytime I got to a gig/rave I end up looking at the equipment to see what's being used. G -

I was thinking about these for the large knobs. http://www.mercateo.com/p/live~s.100*139-1282624/KNOBS_ALI_WING_Typ_5583_6631.html or maybe even these. http://www1.int.conrad.com/scripts/wgate/zcop_in/~flN0YXRlPTE2MTQzMDU1NTc=?~template=PCAT_AREA_S_BROWSE&glb_user_js=Y&shop=A_B2C_IN&p_init_ipc=X&~cookies=1 G -

I'm happy with red or white, thinking too much red may be a problem... If there's anything I can do to help with any of this then let me know... I feel a bit guilty not putting anything in when everybody else is runnign the bulk orders, etc. G -

Liking the red ones! Just wondering if it would be too much red to have them mixed with a red panel, and red underlit buttons.... I do like red though!
