Aren't they around 40V??? The phone exchange boxes (the green cab boxes on every street corner) have a hell of a kick to them, If you bear the insulation off on a wire pair then you can feel the charge just through your hand... It can make attaching the crocodile clips a bit difficult. :-X [/mis-spent youth] The worse thing I ever did was when I was messing around with my girlfriends Tens machine. I put the pads on my arm and turned it up to full not realising what the effect would be. Ended up with a sprained wrist! G

Hopefully they should be here soon, just waiting for the package to arrive from ALBS and then they will be sent straight out. G

I can't remember, to be honest. I think it was the Orange vocoder. I never got it working properly as learning FL got sidetracked when I found Ucapps.... A lot of things got sidetracked when I found Ucapps... I blame TK :D The thing does come with an instruction manual so shouldn't be too hard to get working now I have the ASIO drivers. I had problems linking the two tracks (VST synth and external microphone) into one track in the mixer with the vocoder plugin selected. I will get back to it someday as vocoders are ubercool. I have schematics (from the 80s) for the elector vocoder which I'm looking at giving the MBHP treatment as soon as I learn a bit more and get some spare time. It seems like quite an advanced vocoder and will let you modulate different "chunks" of the sound spectrum together resulting in the output sounding like daffy duck, etc... A modulation matrix would suit this well and the various settings could be stored in patches. It's still a long way off, but something to work towards. G

I didn't realise I was argueing, just commenting and learning. As I said in my first post, I didn't know if I was way off the mark. All I was going on was that my sound from Fruityloops was really bad quality and was lagging. I couldn't get my vocoder VST to work so I read the Vocoder manual and it said I needed to have ASIO drivers to get things rolling. I did some hunting on the net and found ASIO4ALL which fixed everything and didn't slow my system down. All I was saying was that it worked for me and therefore may be worth a try. In my experience if something isn't working right then you do some hunting and try and fix it.... Sometimes it works, others it doesn't, in which case you try something else. G

Hmnnn.... It really speeded my system up. I am using a soundblaster PCI128 though. ASIO4ALL is only for when there aren't any proper ASIO drivers for your soundcard so you could try doing a search for ASIO and your sound card make and see what comes up. G

AFAIK they are not being sold yet. Smash is currently putting kits together and working through the list of people who already have PCBs and then to the others who have requested kits. Wilba has just finished his control surface (and base PCB) construction and is releasing the PCB files to Smash so he can sort some boards out. I think the caution with this is that Wilba wanted to make sure the PCBs were just right before handing the files over. Smash/Wilba, correct me on this if I'm wrong. I think we still have a little bit to wait yet, these kits must take a lot of work and it's Christmas/New-Years time.... Even Smash is allowed time off on New Years :P G

Just a quick update. Payment was cleared to ALBS before Christmas. There's been a delay due tot he factory being closed over Christmas/New Years so the knobs should be with us in the next couple of weeks. G

Try these drivers here http://www.asio4all.com/ . Personally I try to stear clear of onboard peripherals as they are not usually of the best quality. Having said that, I have a Soundblaster 128 soundcard that I bought with my first computer 9 years ago which is still going strong. Give the drivers a go and see if it's an improvement, you can always uninstall them. G

I may be way of the mark here but you could try updating your soundcard drivers to ASIO ones if you don't already have them... Theres some called ASIO4ALL. I tried this and it speeded my system so it may be worth a try. G

Jaicen, it was no problem popping down to see you, I was in Sheffield this weekend for a gig so it wasn't any trouble popping across to see you. I'm hoping that these will be sorted soon. I'm sure that Jaicen is now on the case. It takes a few days to transfer cash across so I think that it's very unrealistic that we'll have these before Christmas. G

Sounds like the best course of action. Let me know when/if the registered letter arrives. I will try and pop down on Friday/Saturday and see what the situation is. Unfortunately I can't make promises on this due to a broken ankle and it being a quite a trek from the town center. If I can't make it then I'll be around again at new years. I know this is causing a bit of stress for everybody but sometimes important things come up that re-prioritise existing commitments, I'm sure we'll know more next week and can work out what we need to do from there. I'm sue there's a perfectly innocent explanation, all i'm saying is that I'll ring him when I'm in the area and try and help him sort something out if there's a problem. If we absolutely cannot get hold of him through email, here, phone, mail, phone, etc then I would cosider popping round in a couple of weeks to try and find out what the situation is... No thumb breaking involve, just an offer of help if it's needed. I would hold of calling round untill there is no other option as it could come across as quite threatening/a breach of privacy so this would be a last option. I'll try getting his number at the weekend and see what happens. G

It's been two weeks, anything could have happened from a broen PC/net access to something more serious (I brokem my ankle on Monday so appreciate how things like this can come up). I suggest we give him a little more time, we can always take it up with paypal if he has completely disappeared, although they keep a percentage of the refunds. I have his real name and address so can probably reach him somehow. He lives in Sheffield and I'm down there on Friday/Saurday so I'll try and get a phonebook and get in touch. Would I be out of order if I just popped in to see him (ankle/distance from town center permitting) to try and find out what's happenin??? I wouldn't want to impose if something has gone off. G

I sent an email requesting the PO on Saturday so hopefully will have this before the end of the week, then just 3-5 das for payment to clear. G
