  1. Check out this thread here http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=10044.15. Wilba still has some 6582 chipa left. G
  2. Just recieved notification today that the post office has my SIDS and they want to charge me £25 customs charge before I can have them. This is 25% of their value and seems very excessive. Does anybody know if there's a way of contending it or avoiding it in the future. Thing I'm going to go have a rant at the post office later. G
  3. That's not a problem. I'm based in Yorkshire and post round here hasn't been much of a problem, although I still haven't got my SIDs yet, bu I think that's down to them coming such a long way. Going to send them all tomorrow. G
  4. Read back throught the thread! Rae parts have been mentioned and people have already mentioned group buys for them. There's going to be plenty of us wanting these spares so I'm sure we can all help each other out. Prices have already been mentioed earleir on. It looks like it will be cheaper building the x0xb0x this way than buying a completet kit. G
  5. ;D ;D ;D ;D Will PM you my paypal addy of you don't already have it.
  6. That's quite a long title... gonna have problems fitting it on headed notepaper ;)
  7. That would be great, but only if robwillis doesn't mind, I don't want to take his order from him. I am in the bulk-order for the panals, boxes LCDs and the knobs ( ;D) so could do with a set of PCBs as I'm just about ready to go. G
  8. Damn, missed out on that one! Any ideas what the situation with the next lot of PCB's/parts kits is. I don't mean to nag, would just be a bit easier if I knew which month I needed to save some money up for. G
  9. Yes... A Nobel prize for TK for services to the bleepy box constructing community! :D
  10. I am in! Jaicen are you still Ok collecting Paypal payments and then transferring the money? If this is still OK (and OK with Sasha) then please send me a paypal invoice and I willl transfer the money tomorrow when I get paid. This project is very different from the midi-box ones, there's not as many people there to hold your hand and offer advice. If we all stick together and help each other out then we should all end up with some pretty nice boxes; cheaper, in less time and looking way nicer than the official x0xb0x. Sasha is trying to make this possible for us so please don't mess him around. If you don't want to go ahead with the order then let him know as it will hold things up for the rest of us. G
  11. Yeh, numbered boards would have been good, if somewhat a novelty.
  12. Was thinking that there was an updated version on the way. I know your very busy SID mining at the moment, but are you going to be looking at developing some add-ons to go on the add-on port at some point or is it to us to develop them? G
  13. Not sure if this is the right place for this. It was mentioned a while back that the next MB-6582 will have red knobs... Is this just going to be a rebuild of the original or is it going to be a V2 design. Any chance of a sneak preview? G
  14. That's what I am doing... It wouldn't be fair to offer them to one person. They originally said they were sold out but then ALBS mentioned they had some left when I got the PO through. They do look a bit naff when they aren't lit up though. G
  15. Photo's as promised. Before anyone asks, I found out that there were a few (16) translucent red knobs left when I sent in the order, these are all accounted for and unfortunately there aren't any more available. I should be able post these on Saturday. G
  16. Keep reading and when you get stuck ask questions and people will help... I'm relying on that too! I find that Maplins is very expensive for componants, this seems to be the case with most componant shops in the UK. I used to get all my parts through a small electronics shop which had an account with RS componants, unfortunately they've shut down now. I've recently found one called rapid online (http://www.rapidonline.com/), they seem more reasonable than Maplins and will deal to the public, check your componant prices against there's. I haven't ordered from them myself, but it may be worth taking a look at their site (anybody here used rapid before?). Another good way to get things cheaper would be to find somebody with an account with RS, I have a friend who's just started (proffessionally???) circuit bending kids toys and persuaded him to get an account, if you ask around you may be able to find someone the same... SOund/light tecjnicians may be a good bet if you know any. G
  17. The knobs arrived this weekend and they look really good. I will get them posted out on Saturday when I have chance to go to the post office. Will post pictured tonight. G
  18. The topic title is "Post here Off-Topic articles". I thought that a few people would be interested because it is another open source project, and lets face it, everybody loves robots! I think mozzarella would go a bit too soft when heated up and not forma a proper layer (unless some sort of cooling was implemented), maybe some chedder or edam would be better ;D G
  19. Just wondering if anybody has seen this before http://reprap.org/. It;s an open source version of a Fabber which is basically a 3D printer, printing precision objects made out of a 3d polymer (or anything that melts under heat and sets again) from a CAD file. Bit expensive to build though, but would definitely consider it one day. It would be useful alongside a homebrew 3D scanner which i've seen documented all over the place. I suppose it would be possible to scan my face and print it out to 0.1mm precsion using cheese, could even rig it up to a fax or something to fax objects across the world. it looks like an interesting project and could be a lot of fun. G
  20. He's probably putting the cases together, I mean it must take time an effort to make something like that :o Goes to show that there's a difference between doing something for the love of it, ie the Wilbabeast and doing something for commercial gain, ie the ebay monstrocity. G
  21. I'm in for two. Will PM my details in a bit. What's the deal with paypal??? Surely it's a bit pointless if you can't transfer the money into a bank account. Another way of doing it is that we could all pay in to one persons paypal account (somewhere where you can transfer into a bank account) and then that one person could send the money to Kartoshka via relay transfer or something similar. There is a charge for funds transfer though. G
  22. The SID-porn ;)
  23. Wiba, please can you be a bit more careful what you post in the future, my work has a very strict policy on using company machines to look at porn on the net *whack*
  24. Just had a thought on making a low-cost front panal. Was toying with the idea of having a thin piece of perspex with just a piece of paper with the panal printed on mounted behind it, I'm sure this has been documented before on here somewhere, I decided that the perspex would have to be very thick to be strong enough though. I have a friend who works at a printers and does a lot a work printing vinyl, It wouldn't cost much to get the panal printed on self adhesive vinyl (either clear or coloured) which could be stuck to whatever panal you want, care would have to be taken to get rid of bubbles. I won't see my friend for a good couple of months as she is away so can't really experiment with this. Has anybody got any thoughts on this? G
  25. I would like to come in on the PCB buy (already PMd Sasha about this), but don't get paid till next Thursday, so if people are still sorting things out next week then I will join you on the list. I will sort out an order for the knobs from ALBS as I am going to be doing another one for the MB-6582, I don't mind doing this even if I miss the PCB order. G
