hi, welcome! you'll just need 1x DINX4 module (half stuffed is enough if you're not planning to expand the CS) 1-8 bank stick chips (24LC512) 1x PIC 18F4685 (SmashTV's already come with MIOS) other than that 9 tactile switches, 1 encoder + knob, at least 2 midi jacks, 1/4" jacks for outputs (and inputs?), a psu (which one depending on SIDs) also you could buy some ribbon cable and IDC connectors (have a look at the core module at the store for which ones you need) you'll have to do some research anyway, all info is in the mbhp section at www.ucapps.de also you'll find a lot of threads here with all kinds of info. edit: the pic shows the same setup, albeit ghetto style temporary installation in a cardboard box AND the modules aren't from Smash. the cables thet go up from the DINX2 and the big ribbon go to the lid where i have a little veroboard with the controls. the cables that go out to the left side are for other purposes.

thank you very much!

here's also a link to the diode at Farnell: http://de.farnell.com/jsp/displayProduct.jsp?sku=1469425&CMP=KNC-GDE-FDE-GEN-SKU-G12&s_kwcid=TC|13114|1n4148w-v-gs08||S|e|5480397067

ok, now i got it, i didn't think of the contact to the switch. i just put myself down for 3 in the wiki. i'm not in a hurry, so i can wait for the lower price i guess i still can increase that in case we take the 4 week lead time? cool!

from your schematic it seems like there's plenty of room even if using through hole components. if you're doing double layer boards anyway and they're on the back they'd just have to be soldered at first. another question: is there enough room between the screw holes and the switch for the head of the screw to fit?

very nice! i'm interested, i could use at least 2 or 3

those wallwarts often have some "tolerances". for example when i switch mine to 12V it produces >15V but your voltage should be high enough for the 7809 to work. if not there should be no damage, it just doesn't work (at least with my modular mbsid) if you don't use a 7812 (as the PSU is already regulated/stabilised) it might work with a 6581, but that's just an assumption. i haven't built a sammich, so maybe there are reasons against that.
-
oh, cool. is there already an estimation when the controller will be available? will the controls be preconfigured (already soldered) or is it possible to use my own pots?

i've done that with the sid recently, also for the Aout_NG. i had to follow the instructions word by word, and it worked. make sure you use the make command with the .hex ending, not .asm, like that: make setupblabla.hex that was the only thing for me that didn't work at first try (tried with .asm at first)

true, i haven't tried the filter. i believe it was just the default patch and maybe 1 or two value changes. i took them out again after a few minutes, as it was just an attempt to test so i could exclude that it was the chip not working.

it's normal that there's some continuity between the rails as long as there's no direct short (0ohms). if you use a continuity tester that produces sound you can hear the caps charge (pitch change).

i like the software klee very much, especially the Klee2, and as you said it's a nice sequencer for jamming. btw you can run several instances of the Klee at the same time, by renaming the files and copying (at least with the full version) and sync them from external clock (described in the manual) Dan Nigrin has also just released his software M-185 roland "clone", also available as demo for download from defective records fun to play with! other than that i haven't tried any software at all...

last year i once put a 6581 into a 8580 sid module. it worked, as far as i can tell, just the same. it needs to be said that i'm no expert in terms of how sid should sound as i'm still building that synth and haven't played much. the reason was to try if the 6581 works at all, as i had trouble with the 6581 sid module (the core kept rebooting). it was a short between the rails on my sid modules. both 6581 i've tried are still working now in their proper modules.

i'm almost done with my sidV2 with Aout_NG and seppoman board/s. i use a separate transformer for the 5V and one for 15/-15 as i have enough room in the box and my 7805 was really hot all the time i powered it from the 12V wallwart that does the sid modules.

here's the info on the pots:

hey welcome! i don't know about the gm5 chips, but you've just misssed the last gm5x5x5 order. you could still try and post over there that you like to be a happy fella, or wait for the next run. (or build your own on perfboard, there's info about this in some threads and on www.ucapps.de

i have 2 red gm5x5x5 pcbs, i just can't find the gm5 chips anymore.... i'd surely buy 2 chips if you have some

Mike seems to have different electrolytic caps. i have cores that are 23.5mm, 25mm and 28mm high including the board. if you want to be sure just ask him via email (at the shop) detailed info on which midibox does what and which LCDs are compatible you can find over there: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/ http://ucapps.de/ i'm sure there are some good examples for you in the MIDIbox of the week section of the forum: http://midibox.org/forums/forum/20-midibox-of-the-week/ have fun!

[WTB] Rean Soft touch black knobs w/ blue insert
rosch replied to julienvoirin's topic in Fleamarket
that's the link to the auction on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.de/5...309588800624234 i know i've read a bulk order thread where they were talking about ordering the Re'ans from Sulzer. i don't know if it was the order that had been run by nebula at that time. but i can look for it later tonight. i think when they could order directly with Sulzer, that should be possible again, probably depending on quantity. when the pointer knob and the encoder knob are both produced by them there shouldn't be much difference. i'll have a look tonight if i can find the thread again, it had pics of the sulzer package and everything... but at least the factory should be able to name a distributor. -

mouser have some re'an knobs but not the one you're looking for. they have some in grey. but they have the datasheet/catalog page: http://mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/REAN_Page3.pdf result: the item is P300-S-096-D6-N search leads to sulzer mixpac (hasn't there been a big bulk order for some re'an knobs with them a few years ago here on midibox?) http://www.reanknobs.com/index.php?id=cetest_firstpage you also find them in their product search. rean distributor for france is neutrik. neutrik seem to carry just plugs, not the knobs. i don't understand that. the picture you have posted is from an ebay seller i have contacted for purchase of 40pcs only the blue knobs in the picture, but serrated shaft. he said he could order some for me if i need more. i also believe they're not soft touch. maybe he can get you some D shaft types also? he needs a few days to answer sometimes, though! good luck, and please keep us posted if you find a way to order them. -
man this 6582 looks really really god with the red knobs and the green display!! thanks for encouraging me in this regard! good luck with your sids, guys!

beautiful. out of time? it won't be the last V3 i'll be glad if mine's going to be half that beautiful. are the buttons the e-switch type with the round caps that are a bit lower level than the rectangular ones?
