  1. Aren't you missing some components south of IC6? Best solution would be to just solder the missing parts, i think - all done  that way you will also be ready for an extra YAC if you find one at some point. It's not like it will be very expensive or anything

  3. $42,000,000
  4. Hi Cimo :ahappy: Long time no see! Lovely light stuff, kinda psychedelic :alien: Will you be in Denmark this summer again?? Good to hear from you - and i wish you a happy new year!
  5. For encoders you have to use mb64e, but i can hear that you need to read a lot more before you start to build - everything you need to know can be found at www.ucapps.de
  6. Well, it depends on the SIDs. If they're not identical, they might have a slight difference in the output. You can do a quick test - swap the SIDs and see if the problem swaps too; it has been seen before ()
  7. mb6582 just has an ordinary rectangle piece of acrylic glued to the underside of the panel.. mine has, atleast :) i didn't see anyone making 'custom' ones?? Maybe i missed this, but i can guarantee that an ordinary (maybe smoke-tinted) piece glued to the underside looks very very nice. You can see a photo of mine here! Funky display colors is cause by the camera angle, and you can see that the inside edge is aluminum-color, though Wilba suggested in the build instructions to paint it black with a sharpie or something - yeah, i'm a rebel :geek: Now, if i could just remember the thickness.... well, it can be found in the build instructions too
  8. From the chapter 'Installation' in the MBSID manual (http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid_manual_in.html) I usually just hold down the button while powering up the box. The LCD will tell you if it is happy
  9. Yes, you are right - DOUTs too to control the LEDs I thought about this too a few times, but i didn't look into it very much. You might be able to find some info in the forum, but maybe we should gather the info and make an article in the wiki.
  10. Take a look in the ucapps.de gallery http://www.ucapps.de/gallery_midibox_sid.html You might find some in the gallery section of this forum too. I also find the box-part of a build to be the most cumbersome :logik: If you find a nice one, then please inform the rest of us 'box challenged' builders a hint.
  11. has a new years resolution: attack queue by all means necessary

  12. This is most likely caused from one of the wires between base and front PCB has "dropped it's cookies" i had a row suddenly dropping out myself (+1 or two other LEDs too), and i did continuity checks between base and front PCB to locate one faulty wire. When i found and fixed the booboo, all my LEDs were sparkling again! I wouldn't dare to guess what is up with your encoders though. It could be that they were harmed when you removed dentation on them? I hope that someone has a better idea than me! Lovely to hear that your box is nearly finished
  13. Hi, and welcome :flowers: Where are you from? It might be important for ppl wanting to buy your SIDs or send you stuff :)
  14. Mine has a fine little hole right above the power-LED, like in this picture http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/lib/exe/fetch.php?hash=fbb1c9&media=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm4.static.flickr.com%2F3279%2F2545754812_f013e9c8cb.jpg
  15. Remember that the summed jack-output has 10K resistors to form a 'passive mixer'. I am no expert in this at all, but i really think that the summed jack was designed like this because it is somehow important! The best you can do is to just solder the simple jack connector for summed output - the scheme still applies (if i use out1, only 2,3 and 4 will com out the summed jack output)
  16. You are right that filters are different. If you look inside this packet of MBSID firmware (http://www.ucapps.de/mios/midibox_sid_v2_0_rc37.zip) you'll notice that there are different versions for 8585 (6582a) and 6581 - the mb6582 version is tuned for 6582a use, but it won't hurt to toy around with these, flashing one or two to see if filter response is affected. In the end i think you can flash the cores with separate firmwares to suit the SIDs. I'm not awfully sure about this as i never had more than 1 working 6581  I'm a 6582a/8580 guy myself, liking the filters a lot! The hex readout is not a bug - it's a feature :D Congratulations on your nice xmas gift!

  18. Hey, that's my dad, Phlegm Sr. preparing supper (stuffed pigeons)...nomnom! The PCB for his house was desighed by nILS. You can tell from the logo on the side Phlegmming
  19. You can also use the wiki to create a bulkorder list.. i've seen that been done a few times, and it seems to be a nice way to go. It will also be somewhat easier than having more threads, i think :)
  20. Welcome aboard romy :flowers: As findbuddha points out, you can find all the information you need on www.ucapps.de There you can all read about the Midibox64, but you will also find info on the different modules and their capabilities. You will have to do a lot of reading to find out what is possible, and how it is done. But quickly things will get more clear, and you will find out exactly what you need to build the MIDI controller of your dreams  You can also find a lot of info by browsing and searching the forum. Maybe other people have built boxes that looks like the one you dream about, and maybe you will be inspired too. If you get stuck, you can always ask for help here in the forum.
  21. is looking forward to more SMD challenges :P

  22. Nice video, Smithy :) I hope you will fix the last small booboos so you can close the box and call it a day
  23. It's also kinda misleading, as Phunk already pointed out - Maybe it will end up confusing beginners even more. My guess is that they're better off enjoying all the well documented builds already found in this community.
  24. Wow, very lovely midibox!!! Very nice work Alco, and cool video
  25. is so sleepy - a nap is planned during weekend
