Wow Bruno! Now I want one too
  3. Hi Bruno No, just Ableton. I have thought about getting Pro Tools or Cubase, but I'm old and can't be bothered to learn a new DAW I have figured out a satisfactory solution: - Ableton as Master clock, connected to the MB SEQ with a MIDI cable from the RME Fireface UCX (actually more stable than MIDI over USB) - MIDI Sync Delay set to - 2 ms, - Monitor in Ableton set to OFF. Monitoring direct through the RME audio interface Did a lot of reading and testing. Ableton works best as Master, it does not like to be a slave. Also if Monitor in Ableton is left to On or Auto, as it is by default, Ableton assume that you are recording something you are playing live, so it moves the recorded audio according to the latency. It's not really made for traditional track recording like Pro Tools, Cubase and Logic Some hits are still early and some late, but it's within +/- 2 ms The BPM on the slaved MB SEQ still fluctuates, but it's just jitter within +/- 1 BPM Finally satisfied with my recording setup, so it's time to actually finalize some tunes :) https://www.instagram.com/prinztronix/?hl=en All the best, Hal
  4. Hi, Does anyone here do track recording in Ableton Live with MB SEQ? I have problems getting it right, and wondered if anybody had any tips. Setup: MB SEQ V4 (STM32F4) MIDI through USB Lenovo Intel Core i7 / Windows 10 RME Fireface UCX Ableton Live 9 I have tried running Ableton as Master and Slave I have tried with Monitor in Ableton off and on There is always a mismatch, just within a few bars some hits can be be about 6 milliseconds early and some about 6 milliseconds late. Cheers, Hal
  5. Is it not Livid? What is it then?
  6. Looks like Livid Instruments Brain and buttons http://lividinstruments.com/products/builder/
  7. This looks like one of them. apparently some issues with them ;)
  8. Is this one of those eBay / Hong Kong kits? Anybody know what the deal is with those?

    TPD Dots

Looks fine to me. Track 4 is selected. Half way in the length of the sequence.
  10. It seems that my suggestion for a clarification about the name was not that stupid, because you all explain the SEQ V4+ a little different. How can the V4+ be the new UI/frontpanel when I am already running it with a Wilba frontpanel? The way I see it, V4+ is the firmware version that only runs on a STM32F4 core. It can be used with a Wilba frontpanel and a latigid on frontpanel just with a different HW file. Some new functions will work on both frontpanels, like it already does with CC layers for drum tracks, and some new functions will probably only work or work best with the latigid frontpanel. Therefor it makes sense to me to be clear about the name. From the changelog: MIDIbox SEQ V4+ is a special firmware variant for the STM32F4 core.
  11. Thanks Bruno, I might try those. :)
  12. I have a SEQ V4 with Wilba frontpanel. I bought the parts kit from SmashTV so I assume they are genuine E-Switch. Now I have to press some of them twice or at least harder than before for them to work. I see that others are talking about "failing buttons" and assume that this is the same problem they have. Is it the switch itself, or maybe the cap that "gives in" so you have to press harder? Could it be that I have a mix of switches with different operating force (F160 , F260) ? Does anybody have a suggestion for a fix or a replacement switch? Cheers, Hal
  13. Hi Bruno, I'm OK thanks, and you? OK, yes I see. But what can we call this version of the MB SEQ V4+ It's just to find a name so we can discuss and troubleshoot the different versions of the MB SEQ V4+ I did not mean to disrespect the webshop :)
  14. This is really great work guys. I am always impressed by all the talent, knowledge and creativity in this community. Could I suggest that we call this just the Midiphy, so we can differentiate between the Wilba and the Midiphy MB SEQ V4+ If I understand correctly the Midiphy is a new frontpanel. The MB SEQ V4+ relates to the STM32F4 Core and can be used with the Wilba frontpanel, at least that is what I am doing now. This is no criticism, I am just pointing out a possible area for misunderstanding in the future. My buttons are staring to fail as well, and playing live this weekend it was a bit annoying. I have a few questions: - Can I have my @ilmenator TPD and BLM 16x4 connected to my V4+ with the Midiphy frontpanel? - Can I use my STM32F4 Core, 2x MIDI I/O, 2xQuad IIC and AOUT_NG with the Midiphy frontpanel? - Will there be a DWG/DXF/FPD cad file available to design and order custom frontpanels? Cheers, Hal
  15. Yes this works with the V4 and V4+ Connect a USB MIDI controller with a OTG adapter to the STM32F4 core Micro USB and Bob's your uncle ;)
  16. Congratulations! \o/ Very cool gadget. Looks super nice and "blingy"
  17. I think this will fix my problem from here http://midibox.org/forums/topic/20578-jam-mode-record-cc-filter-sweeps/ Is it possible to get this fix in an uncompiled version, or is it only in this precompiled version in the link? Cheers, Hal
  18. Hi, Does anybody have an OPL3 module PCB they want to sell me ? If you have chips with it, or it's already populated I am also interested Cheers, Hal
  19. Thanks for the suggestion. I removed the 12 resistors for the voltage dividers, and replaced R52,53,54,55 with jumpers. Now it's louder, same level as my MBFM with your mod. I do notice some distortion with all 4 operators on full volume though, so nILS design make sense and is probably "cleaner". I guess I just got used to the sound and level of my MBFM. At least my patches now sound the same :) Is this maybe why the original design has amplification in two stages with the 3 TL074, to prevent the clipping and still get a high output level?
  20. it sounds to me that you are into making electronic music, not electronics this place is mostly for those that want to do both I don't think anybody here do this to save time or money. For many of us MIDIbox is a hobby / passion / obsession ;) If you need a MIDI controller, Novation makes one for every need If you want a similar sequencer, Sequentix Cirklon seems like "the second best in class"
  21. In this post by @Sauraen, @nILS explains the op-amp circuit schematic on the sammichFM He used a voltage divider to lower the signal to prevent clipping. I don't have that in the 5V mod on the MBFM. I haven't noticed any clipping, but I haven't really listen for it either. Maybe it's there, and I just haven't heard it. Other people also comment on the sammichFM being quiet, but it sounds like it is a conscious decision. Has anybody compared the sammichFM and the original MBFM (TL074 +/- 12V op-amps)? Output level and clipping? Should I add a voltage divider to the 5V mod? How can I measure the potential clipping? Can the sammichFM be modified to sound louder? Change resistor values in the voltage divider, or remove it? Change op-amp? What are the pros and cons of the two op-amps? Differences? 22. SEQ V4 (STM32F4) 092 I have been trying out different ways to play live, after getting some ideas here on the forum. For the way I have stuff set up, it works best for me to have each "song" as a session. I have tested for a while now with different tempos and songs, and it seems to me that I can switch between sessions with the sequencer running without any delay. It changes sessions instantly when I press the new one, and I can jump back and forth between sessions and it stays in sync. Is it designed to be able to do this? Are there any limitations in what the session can contain of info? Are there any problems with doing it like this, like memory or crash? Cheers, Hal
  23. I have a MBFM and a sammichFM. I have built the MBFM with a OPL3 module that I have modified with a 5V option I have described here http://wiki.midibox.org/doku.php?id=opl3_module_modified It uses a MCP6400 op-amp http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/21733j.pdf Lately I have been using my sammichFM, and that sounds much quieter. The sammichFM uses these op-amps OPA4348 http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/opa2348.pdf Attached is an image of a recording with the MBFM on the top and the sammichFM on the bottom. Same note, velocity and patch. Can anyone see a reason why the sammichFM is so much quieter? Are the op-amps that different? Cheers Hal
  24. @Hawkeye Thanks :) It's actually 8 tiny 7-segment display modules. It's controlled by an MAX 7221 and an Arduino (ssshh, don't tell anyone else on the forum) the keypad matrix is scanned by the same "microcontroller". It's not documented anywhere no. It has a MIDI In circuit, and the code just pass it on to the WAV trigger. The key presses send Note On and Program Changes.
