It literally took me a gadzillion times to record this live, dunno why ;-). The waldorf micro q has a nice metallic sound flavour, not like other VAs, it is highly recommended and cheap nowadays :-) Greetz and thanks for listening! Hawkeye

heheh!

Good choice - with 2000mcd you go into Ray Charles mode after 5 seconds. Ok, admittedly not funny. :baby:

No, I am most sure nobody ever assumed that the heat compound can or should be used as a 100% isolator - ´cause anyways you should not use excessive amounts of it, just a very tiny blob to "fill the rough spots".
-
Yupp, i second that - but as Wilba stated, they appear to be yellow/green, so that they could go well with green LED control surfaces (@ olga42) :-) (no guarantees, though ;-))
-
Well, they´re yellow - are you sure? On a second thought, yellow fits really nicely with blue. I am in contact with those guys from Electronic Assembly, but they are not super cheap, ca 49 EUR (incl VAT) per piece if we buy less than 25 (unfortunately I really have no time for a bulk order :-() - also the availability is unclear, they´re super new (february 2011) and they may have a few weeks lead time...

+1! A MBHerbie synth is def on the build list. Shouldn´t be too complex :phone: Keep it up, JRock, I always like listening to your sounds - and forget that girl :)

Thanks a big time man, you have more than earned some beers :-) Would you bring me a pair of those small PCBs when you come to Germany ?

Hi, sorry for digging this thread up again, but it seems that a new batch of 4x20 character OLEDs became available - unfortunately only in yellow, but they still look good, especially performance-wise :-): http://www.lcd-module.de/produkte/oled.html http://www.lcd-module.de/fileadmin/pdf/doma/oled.pdf Wilba, do you have any pics or hints on solution 2) which has been mentioned by cimo before (as the OLED is much thinner than a LCD)? Thanks a lot! Bye, Peter

Second that matrix screensaver wish :-) Btw forget the hue-shifting of the OLED color with a color foil, I just tried it with a yellow LED and of course it does not work, as they emit color only in a very narrow band of light - a color foil filters it rather than shifts it - it works well with VFDs because they emit in a wider range ;-)
-
Yes, i didn´t like the yellow color too, but using the color foil trick (-> http://midibox.org/forums/index.php?app=gallery&module=images§ion=viewimage&img=547 ) you might be able to shift the color a little and if not - nevermind, an OLED it must be! :-)
-
unnecessary as wilba said as long as you don´t smear it over conductive parts which would never happen to a proper midiboxer :-)
-
Great to hear that - let me first inquire the availibility and the prices and i´ll contact you - all VFDs, that i have researched are unfortunately not fitting into the mb6582 case... but the electronic assembly oled really should be nearly equally nice and will shine for sure, if we get it :-) (maybe you should consider yellow or orange control surface leds to fit better with the display, should you want to have it - i will not change my red leds, too much work ;-)). Have fun with the project! Peter
-
Dude, cool you are starting the project :-) The compatibility (hd44780) of the Zyscom looks good and the price is nothing to worry about. I am currently investigating newly (02/2011) manufactured (and supposedly long-living) character OLEDs which look totally awesome (e.g. the background is really black and it has ca 180° visibility angle) but have not hit the market yet, but I am prepared to drown the manufacturer in daily mails or telephone calls until i get an evaluation sample  The display update times should be very quick (if it is the same oled technology as in my car stereo :-)). http://www.lcd-modul...dukte/oled.html If I can get two for a reasonable price, I am willing to send you one, if you are interested Martin - it is at least a very unique display for the MB6582 :-). Bye, Peter

maybe try this? (eliminate possibilities) - test the sidv2 with another midi-interface - test the gm5 with any other midi synth - swap back to the old lcd greets, peter

and the aussie crocos ate wilbas parcel? :bye:

Hawkeye replied to lucem's topic in Fleamarket
mhm, i guess nils should close this before it gets unfriendly here... but just be assured, that a mb6582 does not sound worse than a sammichsid... greets, peter -
me alzo doesn´t carry loozer lists, the definition per se is questionable :-) nice intro&lead&drums - i find it a bit depressing in tonality when the voice kicks in, but that may be just like it was meant to be :-) greets, peter nothing is something worth doing

Dude, that thing looks great - steampunk deluxe, an old radio clock coupled with a golf ball and a sid - absolutely unique  Greetz, Peter
