  1. Yo, the Newhaven character OLEDs are mighty fine and are compatible (converted a waldorf micro q a few days ago - picture here: http://img535.images...8536/mg9636.jpg) Yesterday, TK. and me were tinkering on the 256x64 graphical "Tempest" OLED from Newhaven (SSD1322 driver in the repository) - while the display itself is very impressive, we were yet unable to get usable output due to not-understanding how some things work and some flaws in the datasheets. Bought via Mouser or Digikey. Bye, Peter
  2. Don´t grease, use Smithies powerful knob removal tool. Hot!
  3. it looks great - i love the button caps and the spectrum colorz :-)

5 stars! Extremely nice!! Another MIDIbox of the week vote :-) Where did you get the buttons from? Best regards, Hawkeye
  5. Yes, the SEQ is a very fine basis for a router... We had a discussion going on a little earlier regarding this, see here... If necessary you can strip the CS and the software down to "only" have MIDI-routing functionality. It would still my dream for the SEQ to have a total of 16 "routing slots" which can be turned on and off by pressing a "router key" and then one of the 16 general purpose buttons. Like this you would have total routing control at two button presses, and also see which routings are active when the "router key" is depressed (visualized using the step LEDs). This approach would even help building a dedicated "SEQ-style router" Control Surface, as only the 16 GP buttons and 16 indicator LEDs would be necessary (general routing configuration e.g. via config file).
  6. You can try swapping the SIDs in order to verify that it is not them (unlikely). To make the effect more audible for testing, choose a bandpass filter and turn up the resonance. Here is a link for the cabling necessary for stereo pots:
  7. Which means we will likely see high prices again. Good for the owners :-). I never ever would consider selling my MB6582. Ever. I swear. Not for 2K and Paris Hilton washing my car. Build your own, enjoy it twice!
  8. i actually embrace this feature... it adds to the noisy "chip" style and otoh your sids never should be silent for long anyways :D

Nyan cat gets gearlust. This, like most disco dancing, will end in tears.

  9. SID-elicious :-) Very very nice & MIDIbox of the Week request :-)
  10. :frantics: holy moly that is a quite high asking price :frantics: Each SID itself has 3 oscillators and you can either create patches to create three (more basic) voices per SID or one more powerful voice. For more SID polyphony go MB6582 :-). Best regards, Peter
  11. Hi, sie sind z.B. im MB6582 (->Wiki), das ein sehr gutes Baseboard für bis zu 8 SIDs darstellt, pro Stereokanal mischbar. Ciao, Peter
  12. Step 18: Stabilize Rotary Encoders (optional) Parts used: * JB-Weld Description: * If you have removed the detention of the encoders, you may have noticed, that it is quite difficult to close them properly again so that there is no unwanted wobble/movement when applying off-axial force to them. * Even with calipers and some muscle, the encoders would not reach the stability of an unopened (still detented) encoder. Even worse, over time the clamps loosen a little bit, making things worse. * Therefore I recommend to just apply four tiny blobs of JB-Weld on where the brackets meet the upper encoder case. It stabilized things a lot for me (photo 1). * Make sure you don´t get any JB-Weld on the encoder screw threads, we will need those later on :-) Note: Should you ever need to replace an encoder, use a wire cutter to cut it just above the PCB and then use a vaccuum pump from the backside and your soldering iron from the front side to suck out the short pin remainders.

Just to avoid hate mails from people who burned down their houses with overpowered ledz: LEDz have rights, too. And 40 hours per week max worktime. Overlord cat therefore doesn´t approve. Use laserz instead! :frantics:
  14. After nearly one year of usage, the overlord cat concludes: Will soon post a few more optional mods to increase daily usage pleasure even more...

  18. yes, pimping that MB6582 to the max developed into kind of an obsession, note to self... speak to psychatrist about that next time you´re on the couch.
