ok, the grilled OLED is off to tech support (Electronic Assembly) now...

mhm, letz see what they do, but me is not optimistic. Also the device was not standards compliant (mios8 hacking necessary)... so maybe a vfd is the next try :-)

  3. well we invited the major television companies for recording, but thoze suxxors just didn´t show up in time, so we were already finished when the broadcast van arrived :) Thats also the reason why Wilba looked sad and Schrittmacher ate his fingernails :-) --- as a more serious sidenote, i played around a bit with the kaffeseq and while i did not understand all key combos i would say it is a very nice tool for quick repetitive stuff... while the seqv4 is the general-purpose workhorse that may be overkill (sizewise, build-wise, carry-wise etc) for certain minimal situations. But if you ask me, i prefer the V4 over anything else :)
  4. yo, we had a killer groove going on kaffeseq -> mb6582 we were all happy :)

    MIDIbox FM V1.4

Hi, very cool! I don´t have a MBFM and dunno if it is already/at all possible, but what might be an option would be to have a dedicated formant sequence storage, that stores the center frequencies and other mbfm synth operator parameters and then is played back over time, just like the formant sequences of the FS1R from Yamaha (which has 128 to 512 playback steps per formant sequence, each step contains center frequency, volume, and formant-shape which equals the "width" of the spectrum emitted). As data entry is not viable or really a lot of work, one could maybe use an existing formant converter, this one is in flash: http://blog.zacharch...ditor-in-flash/ "well, excuse me, princess" <- very nice :-) The converter is nice, because it also visualizes the formants and so explains a difficult procedure. When looped, these sequences are able to create completely new (and evolving) un-fm-ish sounds, have a look at the "p11 Uuul-ha" preset for example. The flash tool generates files for the FS1R (8 "voiced" + 8 "unvoiced" operators), but in my tests it already sounded quite good using only 3 or 4 "voiced" operators (all additive, flat fm algorithm). I guess the generated sysex files may be parsed to strip excess operators and unavailable fm operator parameters for the opl3. If this would be realized, the very nice and professional formant sequences created by yamaha 12 years ago would be available for MBFM users... Best regards, Peter
  6. Hi, if you are referring to the four "track group" buttons, this step in my photo tut describes how i connected them (including a working mbseqv4 hw config file) Bye, Peter
  7. why wouldn´t you use the lpcxpresso? it is cheap, available and runs mios32
  9. i´ve seen this seq v4 in action and it is very nice (especially the displays and the step keys) - lots of individual effort went into it, the asked price is very good for anyone looking to get a seq v4 without building effort.
  10. For me the passive mixing in the mb6582 works very fine, i don´t even need amplification when going into an ordinary mixer with 2 channels.
  11. yo, the 2600 was my first computer :) played endless hours of pac-man, yars´ revenge, atlantis, demon attack, pitfall 1+2 et al. :) do you already have sound demoz?
  12. the cart lookz great greetz, hawkeye (<- old atari 2600 fan :))
  13. looks already nice! a proper socket with polarity is a good thing
  14. You can connect db0 to db3 or just leave them unconnected, it should not matter, since 4-bit mode is used nevertheless. I connected db0-db3 in the photo tutorial -> there is also a description there how the soldering order was derived, but yours looks pretty good in my eyes. Nice summary by the way... if all works out, as I expect, please tell me later on - i would then link to it from the photo tutorial, if I may. Bye, Hawkeye
  15. It will ´prolly work... the MB6582 default firmware uses the 4bit mode, so you can refer to that wiring diagram. Also, the 6582 baseboard PCB supports the 8-bit mode, but it needs to be modded a little bit for that, I learned that from Wilba today. If he is asked nicely, he can provide details.
  16. ´t was really nice jamming with you guys... but i feel so depressed now hearing how good nILS plays :)

  17. Yes, it seems we paid a little bit of an early adopter premium :) - the ones we obtained from Electronic Assembly really look most similar to these on mouser http://de.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Newhaven-Display/NHD-0420DZW-AG5/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMt7dcPGmvnkBjOoT7p5TTraIGPgBWSf%2fAE%3d Thanks for finding them, jojjelito! At this moment I am quite sure, that the display needs a different initialization string than the standard 20x4 CLDs, or I really have had a bad hangover and soldering session last night :). Will keep you updated... Best regards, Peter
  18. i´d not be so hard and just say: beerCounter--; tricky as Wilba is, he had beerCounter declared unsigned and it was zero before :)
  19. Hi and welcome! this in done in SEQ_LCD_PrintNote(note) in seq_lcd.c which is called from SEQ_UI_EDIT_LCD_Handler() in seq_ui_edit.c Did I ever mention the code base is preeteh? :-) Best regards, Hawkeye PS: Renaming is as easy as adjusting the SEQ_LCD_PrintNote function. 2nd PS: What do you want to replace the note names with? I am a nosey parker :-)

Regarding a linear psu, you can also build them yourself (but be careful with the high voltages) for low credits. http://sound.westhost.com/power-supplies.htm for an overview Coils are available at Reichelt "Flachtransformatoren" for 5-8€ a piece. Linear PSUs are difficult to get (or expensive, 80€+), because they are considered special nowadays, switching PSUs normally do the job more efficiently (albeit for a few audio audio people who hear ´em :-)).
  21. MIOS32 by TK is a layer ontop of RTOS ("real time operating system"), which was ported to the ARM microprocessors. To create code for it (i.e. realize your project), you will need time, C experience, a set-up cross-compiler-toolchain and some beerz :) Enjoy!
