  1. I'll just throw in my few words too. DIY is never gonna be cheap ;) Hehe, where's the "Like" button? :).
  2. Bought new PA for band practice, plus two china edition Beta58 mics from my bro. Supercheap and it works, but not something I would make the audience listen to tho :P

  3. ULN2803 is a a chip containing darlington transistors, which can be used with a broad output voltage (depends what u feed it with). It also got protection diodes at each output, so, all this makes is extremely usefull as interface between shift registers / i/o pins of microcontroller and relays. So I guess, the question kpete asks, is a valid questions. Would be easier to tell you what might be wrong if you provided a schem, or told a little more about the matrix and what u're trying to use the 2803 chips for. Not sure what you're building and what you ask for, but in general, if any circuit need a new IC each time you use it, something is definetly wrong with it :).
  4. Just my thoughts; I experience the same with almost all PCB I make myself. I think the reason (just my thoughts) is that the copper is glued on, and some tension appears between the copper and the rest, and that could be the reason why it warps. I remember some of the first boards I made, I saw it was warped, and I sort of just accepted that - until I etched it - taking away much of the copper - then it was straight as never before. Seems like etching copper away takes some tension off it. That also makes sense when thinking about what Ilmenator said... I don't know that it actually works this way, but it's kinda logical considering my own experiences with the warped boards. Heating it up (if it is the way I concluded for myself) could probably give u different results with different pcb materials then... If it's plastic, you could probably heat it to straighten it out, but maybe it's not possible if the board material has fibers in it... As I started with; just my thoughts and reasoning... :).
  5. What kind of relays are u using? I have some thoughts about switching noise - like noise from connecting / disconnecting the FX pedals into the chain. How do you handle this? My thought was to make a digitally controlled mute circuit at the end of the chain - that is - before signal enters amp or DI box. And mute the output for the split second it takes the relays to switch... Have a strong suspicion that circuit for this muting or other way to do it can be found in schem for several of the common stomp boxes out there. Especially thinking of the boss tuner - which I know can do silent mutes.
  6. Oh yeah! Looks good! I have been working on similar stuff, just now and then, nothing serious yet. I'm building one, but not sure yet it's gonna have midi, but then again, it would probably be stupid not to! Does it work well?
  7. This looks good! What material is it made of? Looks like nylon or something :).
  8. Hehe, I had to go see what it was u were talking about ilmenator, and I agree ;)

  10. Sharing files in Windows 7 and 8 is about the worst thing I've encountered in my nerd-career. It just does not work the way it is supposed to work.

I couldn't get the Win7 sharing to work.. so I built myself a 6TB NAS server to share my files between my various machines

Yep, that's what waiting for me too. Maybe not 6GB, but maybe 4gb. But several other things are more pressing (for my wallet) than a NAS right now, but soon. I have a server, but it's outdated - hardware is old, so I was planning to use it for gateway instead now.

...gonna be nice to get some knowledge on that too. I just wish I could plug the probe in the back of my head and learn Jijitsu, but I guess that's not how things work hehe. Also working on some dmx->pwm(led and halogen) stuff. Interesting.

  20. Hehe Antix, you are right about postal service being busy nowdays. I was trying to slip past the line at the post office today - had three big packs in my car that was to be shipped to Oslo. I parked car at the back entrance and rang the bell. The lady that came out looked like she was running around herself hehe. I asks, I have three big packs here that need shipping, and was hoping not having to carry it all the way through the mall and to the front desk, can I just put them off here? She goes - naaahh... we are all full here - then she thought about that excuse for a second, and remembered that she couldn't deny me delivering her some packages. :P - and said, well as long as it isn't too big I suppose it's ok. So she wheeled out a cart for me to put them on, and I fill it up, and she said, - yeah... that's what I would call too big. I smiled at her, well, at least I got away with carrying them around to front desk. Then I saw one of the packs lacked the address note on it, in other words, it wasn't prepaid like the others. And she smiles a sadistic smile to me and says: I guess you gotta go to the front desk then after all - and you can't take the shortcut through here :). So I ended up going around to the front desk - standing in line for 30 minutes - office was full of people - Then I had to go ask the lady for my package, so she could go back and get it, weigh it and I could pay for it. So much for trying to sneak past the line at the front hehe. And the lady enjoyed every little moment of it :D. I'll just go to the front desk and get in line like all the other 15 people did hehehe. But it's not illegal to try, no? :D.
  21. Fairlightiii - you should do what is most comfortable for you. Nobody expect you to work your ass off at christmas time - it's the time for relaxing. You have done an extremely great job documenting what happens with the bulk order, so I don't think anyone is getting nervous if it takes a bit longer because of christmas. If it helps shave some of the load off your shoulders, you can send mine after christmas too, do what you feel like ;). I don't need midibox gear for christmas - all I want is really described by this song: hehe, merry christmas everyone!
