  1. Hehe, thanks y´all :clover: :ahappy: Regarding following ideas and that they might get you to a mental clinic, even if your friend was mean then, Antonio, there is certainly some truth to it. The harder you push, often the worse the outcome will be... Sometimes, you are stuck, where nothing moves... I had that problem with this tune... it was on the sequencer for full three months, and the parts just would not fit together, i was about to give up, wildly deleting tracks on the SEQ, being frustrated, even deleting the one, that I thought was essential and "cool"... Then I tried again without this track and then it did somehow work... So, while the outcome cannot be predicted and you really can´t plan for anything, my preferred "workflow", is to wildly hammer some notes into the seq, drop tracks that don´t fit, and just "play" with the other tracks, with the recorder running all the time. Some tunes like this one will take months (of free-time evening sessions, every other day or so), until they are ok, others will just work within a single session... Many greets and thanks for listening! Peter
  2. Hola, proudly presenting my newest song, including copters, sunsets and eight 8580s :) Hope you like it :) ! Happy birthday, J! Am looking forward to building that monster controller with you, my friend, 2K LEDs heeeere we come :-D... Many greets! Peter
  3. :sorcerer: Happy Birthday, J! :frantics:
  4. Cool thing! Looking great! The flat-top LEDs are a little bit tricky during the assembly stage, aren´t they? :-) Many greets, Peter
  5. Very good - we had lotsa problems with its predecessor, the 256x64px OLED.. they seem to have learned and published the right information in the datasheet! Anyways: Great work, hoping for some driver code in the repository! :-) Bye, Peter
  6. Very nice! Did you have any trouble initializing this Newhaven OLED? Just asking out of curisity :) Many greets, Peter
Ciao, Peter
  8. I should have done some research first :-) Thanks! Just out of pure interest, would it not be possible to connect MBSEQV4 "Trig outs" to the individual "Trigger inputs" of the 9090 voice modules? E.g. like the trigger in of the bassdrum: http://blogimages.bloggen.be/mb9090/attach/82304.pdf But of course, you´re right, if it is already MIDI-equipped, this way uses less cables and allows to use it with other MIDI gear :) Many greets, Peter
  9. Awesome :frantics:
  10. As Shuriken said, wouldn´t it be possible to use pcbatterj/Jef/Synthage.com ´s 9090 MBSEQ V4 based sequencer board for the 808 voice boards, too? The design looks very nifty and it "only" needs to trigger the analog voices? Edit: ok, there´s things like note accents, too - I think they are triggered via additional trigger channels... You´ve gotta love the euclidean rhythm generator in the V4 SEQs, a great addon for any drum sequencer... Many greets! Peter
  11. Three days to LED Ring PCB bulk end! Grab one while you can - great price :-)

Paid in full. Now I just need to obfuscate the rather large component order from those prying eyez...

Yes, the first hit to the wallet was well noticable, but am scared of what happens now :-) Really considering 2 cent round leds instead of 10 cent rectangular ones :)

    MB808 microlarge PCB

Oh wow, got three unpopulated microlarge 808 voice PCBs lying here, too, thanks to Antix... looks like some work :) Well done!
  14. Regarding an encoder bulk, I fear that not soo much can be gained... Example... when someone does a bulk of 1000 bourns encoders with switch, the mouser price will be 652€. If then 32 (20,86€) are sent to a person somewhere in the EU (they are too heavy for normal envelopes), ca 10€ p&p have to be added, so that the "normal" price of a mouser order (which is 30.08€ for 32 pieces) is matched. So, in short, when you order via mouser and can reach the 65€ free-shipping amount (and chances are that you will, because of the encoders and the LEDs and other MIDIbox small parts), you will be fine... 137 boards on order! Yeaah! Only 13 to go for the next price drop :-D (and only 5 more for the "breakeven" point, where it makes sense to order 150 instead of 142, because they will be cheaper :)) Many greets, Peter
  15. upgrading to 8 boards, as * i am an illumination wh*re :) * this will be the maximum amount of boards natively supported by the new MIDIbox NG (two SRIO chains with 16x2 shift registers each) * maybe we can reach 150 boards and get a 50 cents rebate per board :) * you have gotta love the design - thanks Jérôme :-) Many greets, Peter
  16. Hi, can you measure voltages, when the unit is turned on? To me, it sounds like a power problem, too! I experienced similar behaviour, when adding a very power-hungry VFD to the MB6582, then still with a standard C64-PSU. The VFD caused the 5V "logic" supply voltage to drop to around 4.6V - screen updates were very slow back then and I had the feeling, that the PIC was slowing down or the display could not keep up with the data feed... Many greets, Peter
  17. Happy Birthday :) Enjoy the party :)
  18. Hi Alex, i´ve got an MBFM on my long build list - if you really want to give it away, i would gladly take the display and promise, it would be used in a MIDIbox again :-) Shipping would go to Germany - contact me via PM if you are interested - thanks a lot! Many greets! Peter
  19. Why not leave the bulk order open for one more week, so that PCBs and Mouser items will both arrive close to December 12? Maybe some more people are willing to join :)
  20. Good ideas! I have added a subsection to the guide, where it is recommended a) to solder the three connection pins of each encoder first and check with the baseboard, that the encoders work fine. b) afterwards solder the big tabs - stability matters in my opinion, too. Fully agreed with ilmenator. Arkay, when you´re at Wilba´s place - say him a big hello from me and ask him, if he has managed to get the OLED up and running yet, i´d be interested ;-) Many greets to downunder! Peter
Ciao, Peter
  22. Hi, while these may not be the cheapest encoders, they are rock solid and working without problems in my MB6582, since more than two years now :) http://de.mouser.com...muFqx9z8g%3d%3d I had some problems in the beginning after manually removing the "dent" where I accidentally bent the upper sliding contact too much upwards... which led to a bad contact between upper and the lower inner part of the encoder. But it was easily fixed by bending the sliding contact a bit down. . I´d also recommend that you "glue" the encoder case afterwards on the opening brackets with JB-Weld, this gives maximum strength - my unglued encoders were "wiggling" a bit after a year of heavy use :-) So, if you are about to give up, I´d recommend you order one of these for testing, desolder your worst encoder and test with this Alpha encoder instead... Many greets, Peter
  23. Happy birthday, Jérôme! Overwhelming feedback on the PCB, i was hoping for it, but 100 PCBs is just fantastic! Just to be on the safe side, to get 100 PCBs with the lower cost, I´d recommend to either wait a bit longer, until 120 units are reached (20% safety margin), or add a "if something goes wrong, i will buy more" column to the wiki. Example: if it is a close call and some people back out and we would fall below 100 PCBs, I would take 6 boards instead of 4.Perhaps there are others willing to back the 100 PCB mark with additional orders, if something goes wrong. It just makes no sense to buy 98 boards @ 11 € each, if you can buy 100 @ 9€ each :). Many greets, Peter
  24. Very interesting read! Thanks! :sorcerer: Many greets, Peter
  25. Now, that is a fat sequencer ;-) Nice panel! Many greets! Peter
