MBSEQV4L Frontpanel PCB Bulk Order

Recommended Posts

I'm starting a bulk order for frontpanel PCBs of the MIDIbox SEQ V4 Lite project: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_seq_lite.html

mbseqv4l_2.jpg

Please add your name and desired quantity to the list if you are interested: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=tk_mbseqv4l_pcb_bulk_order

The estimated price is ca. 10..20 EUR, depending on the quantity. I will order the PCBs end of november, so that you should receive them before christmas!

Update:

Again some good news:

Due to the high demand I decided to hand over the bulk order to Tim aka. SmashTV!

This has some advantages:

  • I give it into the hands of a professional (he already improved the Gerber Files! :) )
  • you can order the MBHP_CORE_LPC17 and MBSEQV4L FrontPanel PCB from a single source
  • you will be able to order the PCBs from the Low Value Order Page
Shipping costs to Europe (e.g. Germany): ca. 5 EUR
  • PCBs will be available by end of november
  • Long-Term availability of both PCBs!

All people who have already added their name to the bulk order list will be informed via PM once the PCBs are available. Therefore it still makes sense to enter your name if you are interested.

Best Regards, Thorsten.

Thorsten,

could you give a few more deatils about size of the PCB and button spacing? It seems the PCB could be useful for other applications as well, or is the button / LED matrix something very specific / exotic?

I do agree that the PCB could also be used for other projects, especially since an isolated driver is available (blm_cheapo). Link to usage example

The size is 25x10 cm, it fits over the MBHP_CORE_LPC17 module if two 18mm spacers (-> 36mm) are used.

Advantage of this size: there is no need to cut the LPC-Link interface

This will be my first MidiBox build too, i'm so glad I came across this. I would like 2 please.

Please add my name to the list for +1! Thanks, Thorsten!!

You will have to add your names to the list yourselves, otherwise it's not going to happen... Find the link in the first message in this thread.

This looks great, but before I sign up for a PCB I'm interested in the case that has been mentioned. Will this PCB sit behind an acrylic front panel, or will the buttons and LEDs be exposed?

Well at least the buttons will have to be exposed to be any useful, don't you think?

Aha OK maybe I wasn't clear enough, I want to know if there will be a drilled front panel covering the PCB as part of the box or not (similar to Wilba's front panel for the MBSeq full version). The reason I'm asking is that you can see on the photo that there are the 8 BC337 transistors in the right hand top corner of the PCB. These look almost as high as the buttons and I'm not sure how this will be handled.

Hope that's clearer...

These look almost as high as the buttons and I'm not sure how this will be handled.

The height of the (soldered) transistors is 6mm (almost the same as for the LEDs), whereas the height of the buttons is 9.5mm

This means, that the 2mm acryl panel will sit on the top of transistors, LEDs will be under the (transparent) panel.

Christian will continue to work on this once he's back from vacation.

OK thanks for the clarification TK, sounds like you've thought of everything :)

I'll go and sign up then!

Cheers

Before I add myself to the list could you confirm if:

a) eagle file will be provided eventually

b) how many layers the PCB will be

I have recently bought myself a CNC milling machine so I would be able to etch it myself if its 2 layers or less, and it is far more exciting to know I have made everything in a project

yes, Kicad files will be provided once we've finalized the layout, and it has two layers.
