  1. I can't work out the switch! It seems to have a pin missing as I would expect two pins for the switch itself and another two for the LED. Looking at the picture, the two pins at the bottom appear to be the LED and the one at the top is one of the switch contacts - the other is missing!:frantics:
  2. I got mine on Ebay. I can't remember the seller now, but red LCDs do exist!
  3. haz Jupiter, but no time to play with it. Off to work in a bit.

...and today's rather cheaper purchase - moar 8580s. I now have a fully loaded MB6582 at last.

Too much GAS - I was going for a Sequential Six Track and then a JP-6 started calling me....

Jupiter 6 is a very *very* nice synth! Get the Europa kit if you can :D

I intend to fit Europa at some point, but first I have other projects to finish....

  6. has almost finished a flanger, only to run out of jacks and switches. Arrgh.

same problem for me, but then i strategically invested in chewing gum and watched a few macgyver howtos... :)

Haha! I miss Macgyver. Might have to invest in some DVDs...

I'm saving my Macgyver moments until it's life or death. On the other hand, I now have this huge stash...

    IBM RackX2

Just emptied my rack, which formerly contained two servers, switch, UPS, etc. I have an urge to start filling it with Roland MKS series modules.
  8. has just built a Boss CE-2 clone. Needs moar effects!

I can hardly advise a bitcrusher.

Don't find a good diy solution yet, but have lend an OTO Biscuit from a friend recently and if they aren't counted ~500€ I've buy one instantly!

The "Hexe Bitcrusher" looks good as well, but don't test so far.

Maybe a good "diy-group-project" for the future(!?)

Thanks! The Mutron Bi-Phase looks cool.....

and the T-Resonator looks scary! As for a bitcrusher - I wonder if I could use a Shtruthi-1 with digital filter board.

I like it! Looks a lot more solid than my cardboard version.

    9090 1

Not a proper Midibox! Ah, but will it mutate into an MB-9090?
  12. gslug

    MB909?

Against ground I get: +2.04V, 0V, +5V and +3.1V. As I can't recall which is pin 1, that is from left to right, looking from the front (pot side) of the board. Hope this helps! Kevin
  13. Happy Birthday Wilba!:queen:
  14. It felt like the wiring took me longer than anything else! I hate crimping.
  15. is ordering parts: Quad IIc, AoutNG, core 32 and MN3007/MN3101 ICs.

Thinking about doing a flanger next. I have just finished a Gristleizer and a PT2339-based delay.

      Schrabikus

@Jojjelito - they are quite cheap

      $4 for MN3007+3101 @ebay $10 for V3205+MN3102 @utsouce.net

      jojjelito

Oh! Thanks! Gonna do a Mutron bi-Phase clone at least! Have to browse what's out there... :)

  18. Cool front panel. I don't know why, but it makes me think of 60s comic books!
  19. Great news Jef. I'm looking forward to seeing the first pics of a completed, cased MB-9090. And I agree about the size - there are a lot of boards to accomodate, plus the transformer, etc. Kevin
  20. The liquid was flux. You can get flux pens for easy application. Also get some fine solder - about 0.5mm diameter, and make sure that the tip of your iron is clean. I did my first surface mount board last week and it was much easier than expected. I ended up bridging a few pins, but solder wick fixed that. Give it a go - it isn't as scary as you think! Kevin
  21. has just built a MIDIpal. First ever SMT soldering and I didn't make too much of a mess of it....

Good practice is desoldering/soldering chips from old soundcards for example, or any other broken hardware.

OPL board has a little SMT.

Schrabikus - Hadn't thought about that. I have a box of old PCI cards.

Gilesjuk - I'm on the list for the next (last?) batch of sammichFMs, so OPL will happen at some point.

  22. Me too! I've added mysef to the spreadsheet. Thanks Jef! Kevin
  23. Thanks for the Link TK, I'll have a go tomorrow.
