    Nice find technobreath! I was looking for an up-to-date replacement for the MC3423. The above circuit will do. But the problem with zeners is they only come in certain values. So for example a 12.6V zener kicks in if the voltage exceeds 5%. However the 5.6V zener kicks in after 12%. Which could already be fatal.
  5. I spoke to Northenlightx about this design a while back. According to him it wasn't working properly. So i would not recommend using it.
  6. Good link. But i think it still applies to switching PSU. As they use high freq (250kHz+). So i can imagine you haven't seen any power planes. As i haven't seen any switching psu designs here :whistle:

  8. Well i did catch up on the easy part. If you have a look at the lm2675 datasheet and go to page 22. There is a pcb design you could almost make with just a knife and copper board. My mb6582 psu design (which is a ref. design) shows something similar:
  9. I think i am familiar with the design concept. But so far i have only seen it in switching psu designs. Not sure what the purpose is.

    Looks good. Just make sure you don't connect all the IC to one big heatsink. The metal backside of the 7915 is not GND.

  15. Nice, I have a Wavestation SR. However no data/mem cards. I found some usefull info explaining the differences: The SR uses the same PCM cards as the new 01/W series, which have four times the storage capacity as the older cards. The program data cards are the same as the Wavestation, so that all of the existing program card libraries can be used. The PCM playback chip used in the Wavestation and 01/W series treated PCM slightly different than its predecessor (used in the M1 and T-series). The interpolation technique requires 2 samples *after* the end of the loop, which the M1's PCM chip did not - so M1 cards don't have those extra samples. So any program data from org. WS should work. I have found the PCM Workshop software The old site has some useful info as well. I also found quite an extensive Wavestation ROM collection. However that seems to be meant for the VSTi so not sure if it's any use.
  16. Hardware wise it would not be a problem. But you need to make some considerable changes to the source code. Since its all in assembly it's not so n00b friendly.
  17. I asked Twin-X about the windows. He made those windows himself. He used to have a CNC machine. However he sold that one and is currently building another. That will take considerable time. So don't hold your breath.
  18. I could ask where Twin-X had those made. I live pretty close to him. So any company in the neighborhood should be doable.
  19. Yeah i came to the same conclusion a while back. The CORE32 is not a good option if you want to drive this. And no, my version doesn't include the SPI function either. But my eval board does not have the limitations of the 74HC595. It has a dedicated 40pin LCD connector on the board. And another 40 pin connector for other I/O. So i want to see if i can get this working with MIOS32.

  21. The only update i have is, that there is no update. :whistle: I haven't had any response yet on my last e-mail to manufacturer. By the way this is progressing, i wouldn't count on any real group buy till October. Until then i am not really keeping a list of interested people.
  22. Looks very similar to the code i have here (not my own). I have an eval board based on a STM32 103VE. I want to try the display on it. However i need to wait for the delivery of my jtag adapter. Before i get any smart comments about the LPCXPRESSO, i bought this board long before :rolleyes:
  23. I did some research on this subject awhile ago. A lot of cheaper scopes do tricks to get to a full signal. They will take multiple samples to actually build a sinus from several points along those samples. So such a device would not notice an incidental drop. It's basically to obscure the fact that their sampling rate is way to low. The EEVBlog has some good info on this subject. Although his presentation is a bit over the top. Here is one telling why you should not buy a DSO scope The Rigol DS1052E is the cheapest device i found which has good hardware. It uses an Agilent chipset which is also used in much more expensive stuff. The hardware allows for 100Mhz. However it's firmware limited to 50Mhz. But some smart folks found a way to do a firmware hack. The Rigol goes for about 400 Dollar in the states, or i can find it in a decent shop here for about 299 Euro.

  25. I am working on something, but as it's smd i think it's not going to make it as a standard design. Hawkeye has a good design for a linear PSU with protection.
