  1. Agreed with ilmenator, its not good to see people get re-animated, when they don´t need re-animation :) Question: wouldn´t it be possible to power a standard SEQ V4 via the USB port? There are quite cheap USB hubs available, that give a bit more oompf than the USB-standard-specified 500mA power, that should be sufficient even for high-power backlit LCD displays. Bye, Peter
  2. Can recommend these el-cheapo SD-Readers, they are easy to obtain and cheaper than most stand-alone SD-Slots. Just open the plastic case, desolder all components from the PCB and solder the SD cable pins directly to the SD-card-holder pins as described in the SD-Card tutorial on ucapps.de. http://www.reichelt.de/Kartenleser-und-Adapter/READER-SD/3//index.html?ACTION=3&GROUPID=4825&ARTICLE=59213&SHOW=1&START=0&OFFSET=500& You can re-attach the plastic case afterwards, so you will get a nice external/internal sd reader for very cheap. Bye, Peter
  3. Am quite positive, that you should not wire the 12v back to the illuminated switch, it will be powered by ac mains when switched on... Please, be careful with mains voltage! Bye, Peter

  8. Hehe, great! Congratulations, know how it feels when it comes to "life" :)
  10. Very nice! The tracklength of exactly 10:24 alone guarantees epic-ness :)
  11. Great + nice to hear the vocals! :)
  12. Great! Me approvez! ;-)
  13. Ok, agreed, if it is not a real analogue synth, in the end it is all software, no matter if executed on an audio DSP or an Intel CPU. I recently tested the OP-X VST (Oberheim Emulator) and must say, holy cow, it does sound nice! With proper MIDIbox knobs and keys and a VST host that quickly boots and needs no keyboard or mouse interaction to get it running, this would be nice! Is anyone aware of such a solution, that does not cost thousands of dollars and does need no monitor/mouse for startup and normal operation?
  14. Thinks we should send a MIDIbox SID playing Sanxion Loader in a loop into outer space :)

Prolly way overpriced, but me also lovez planet waves cables :)
  16. wicked1, totally agreed, it is a shame to see even "synth legends" fall back to vsts... personally i cannot stand the "unknobness" of an ipad, however good the software behind it may sound :) . Also, the real hardware with blinking lights and things to twist is a lot more inspiring than pushing a mouse over a desktop. I´ve given up Ableton for a MBSeq V4 and don´t look back... Methinks, that is what MIDIbox is for, to be able to create hardware for something you really want to control with your fingers, to celebrate the old times, and to combine with everything new :). Bye, Peter
  17. It was just an idea, yes the window should be fullscreen, but if you build the controller anyways you have some cost, so you could dedicate a full display/monitor to it, e.g. an old 15"/17" tft screwed directly above your controller. This way you see what is going on, what the encoder values are etc, but you have physical hardware to control everything... best of two worlds... There are tools for mouse automation for all OSes, but you´d need to find a way how these tools can be triggered externally via MIDI events... Bye, Peter
  18. Hi, if the VST does not have a "MIDI learn" feature for certain functions, you might be able to hack in some mouse automation, that is triggered by MIDI events... but it is very hacky :) On the other hand, i´d recommend to start with the basics, e.g. by building the encoders first. MIDIO V3 would be a great base for it (read ucapps.de). Just having a bunch of encoders instead of using the mouse will already greatly improve your experience. Good luck! Peter
  19. d0ne :) :clover: have fun :)
  20. Welcome! The list sounds good (you also need parts for the Core board ofc, but Tim/SmashTV sells them in a nice package). Yes, you can solder to any SD Card slot (or even disassemble an el-cheapo USB-SD Adapter which is available for less than 2 bucks, often cheaper than a standalone SD card slot :)) Regarding the 40x2 character LCDs, afaik they come only in one industry standard size (also look for HD44780 compatibility) , but better check the LCDs datasheet - you can compare the dimensions (e.g. for the mounting screws) with the dimensions of Wilbas control-surface PCB (it is in the Wiki). Probably the 17/19/20 inch stuff refers to the overall width of the sequencer aluminum panel. The SEQ V4 definitely rocks, you won´t regret the build for a second :) Greets, Peter
  21. Yes, these tactile switches will work :-)
  22. The 40x2 Futaba VFD has a few problems regarding compatibility: but a driver patch is available. Edit: did not want to bash it - they are very fine VFDs, which I enjoy every other day or so on the MBSEQ V4, but you must use them in 4-bit mode. Bye, Peter
