  1. Latency introduced by the simple inverter schematic as mentioned by latigid on will be nothing to speak of and even difficult to measure. It is basically the gate reaction time times two, which is something you can look up in the data sheets.
  2. You can obviously build to whatever spec you like, and if that switch is an integral part of your building satisfaction, then you should definitely go for it . It's still kind of interesting, because if I remember correctly, then originally the idea was to recycle a part that everybody who had salvaged the SID chip from a C64 was supposed to have anyways. So, no offense meant, rather a friendly "shaking of head in disbelief"...

  5. Check whether the red wire is on pin 1 on both sides (or not on pin 1 on both sides). Whether a cable is twisted or not also depends on how you crimp it to the connector, how you lay the boards next to each other, ...
  6. Why is everybody so obsessed with these rocker switches? There are many panel mount / snap in alternatives out there. Panel mount means no stress on the PCB...
  7. That's quite a lot of bleed, indeed. Maybe reverse LEDs that are mounted underneath the PCB (and that shine their light through a hole in the PCB) could be an option to have a more directional light beam up into the clear "dome"?

  12. The 7805 will get pretty darn hot for anything above 9 Volts or so, so I would take a conservative approach here and keep the input voltage in that range.

It would be great if you just took the time to read and quote properly: to be a bit more clear for you, the "not insisting on licensing terms" actually was "not wasting your time insisting on licensing terms". See the difference? To be extra clear what that means: Stop whining (and do some creative work yourself).

  18. You mean because only half the MB community is actually contributing? I'd say don't waste your time insisting on the TAPR license, instead go create a new version PCB yourself if you need one, even if it is not likely to be at the same level.
  19. I agree that the real problem lies in announcing something that apparently is not going to happen. That said, I fully understand that life can get in the way of projects (speaking from my own experiences as one "of the old guys"). However, this aside, I see no obligation at all to keep up the supply of "old" boards or kits. There is a window of opportunity for everything, and it's quite natural that these windows open and close again. No further regulation is needed.

  21. I have redesigned my BLM 16x4 board to fit other buttons than the Marquardts 6425 series. These have an excellent tactile feedback, but they are somewhat on the expensive side (at least if you need 64 of them like on this board). So, in terms of functionality, the new v2 version is exactly as its predecessor, see the Wiki. However, it now fits the following switches: - Marquardt 6425 series - ITT Schadow D6 series - E-Switch 612-TL1100 series (The latter are the exact same ones as used by Wilba on the SEQ v4 board, or on the TPD board.) Unfortunately, I don't have a picture with the TL1100 on the PCB. PM me if interested in a BLM 16x4 v2 PCB, selling price is 25€ plus shipping. I can also make complete kits available should there be any interest. I am located in Germany, shipping this board should be reasonably cheap - I can check if you send me your location.   22. Just have someone build the unit for you, then you don't know what is inside . Seriously, the production spread on the original chips (6581) was so large that your FPGA version might exactly replicate one of those.
  23. I'd suggest to drop the 3U height requirement. IMHO it just doesn't make sense to have the SEQ mounted in a rack - it's clearly a table top device in terms of layout and functionality.
  24. So how much flexibility is there for the BLM configuration (8x4, 4x4, 8x8) when it comes to assigning SEQ functionalities to the buttons? Do we need to recreate the original Wilba BLM in terms of schematic / PCB layout?
